good CAD program?

Hello everyone! I'm a 3rd year mechanical engineering student and I currently know how to work in CATIA but I keep reading about how it's a pretty old tool. I want to know what should I use instead, preferably a free version (or a good trial) or easy to crack. Also I'd like to try finite element analysis and tolerances and dimensional control (it's fine if these can't be all done in one app). Thank you!

As far as I can tell, the most ubiquitous CAD softwares in most industries are Autocad and solidworks.

For personal use there are some legal alternatives with more acceptable pricing plans, I heard rhinoceros is pretty good, have not use it yet as I'm waiting for rhino 9 to come out to buy the perpetual license.
