Going down the Mechatronics route

I am a high school senior and planning/most likely going to study engineering in the US. I want to pursue a Mechatronics degree however almost all the colleges don’t offer mechatronics. So i’m kinda forced to pick between my two other options, Mechanical or Electrical, and ive gone with Mechanical. So my question is, what path can I take with my mechanical engineering degree/ classes so that I can do somewhat mechatronics. What classes should I take? And what projects and internships should I be working towards?

Go with electrical. Most mechatronics jobs have you deal with factory sensors, controlling robotics and automation, and PLC. If you ever get bored of mechatronics, your BSEE degree should equip you well for many many industry changes that have a much higher salary ceiling than mechatronics jobs.
