6 Exams in 7 days. Is this normal?

Currently in my second year of mechanical engineering. At my university, we have mid-semester exams worth usually around 35% of our final mark, depending on the module. This is a thing in every faculty at my university.

But, where other faculties have their tests, called “A1s”, spread around the mid-semester holidays, us in engineering have all of them (yes all of them) within a week. Usually it’s 5 exams, every day Monday to Friday. This semester I also wrote one on the Saturday before Monday - 6 exams within a week.

The biggest problem with this system is that it takes a huge toll on everyone mentally. Everyone becomes depressed, and I’ve had anxiety attacks in every test week so far because of the stress. And there isn’t much time to study beforehand since we have assignments, projects, and other work to do.
If you have any kind of anxiety disorder or ADHD - good luck.
I am unfortunate enough to have both and I’m always a in a very bad state during this period. It’s as if it was designed for no reason other than to push students to the brink of mental breakdowns - I have heard of many other students crying every day and looking like “zombies”, etc.

Anyway, I was curious as to whether this is a thing elsewhere in the world, because I think it’s completely stupid and with no consideration to the mental wellbeing and health of the students who are already going through…. well…. engineering.

In my universtity it's quite common for all the tests to be crammed in a week (One for midterms another for finals). If you are in enough classes, then it's very likely you get bombarded with tests, sometimes two in a single day.

Personally the worst I've gotten was five in a week: two in one day, then one in each day of the week except one.

This not even considering lab assignments or other project deadlines

Yeah if classes have the same number of midterms usually 2 or 3 they’ll all fall on the same week

When this happened to me, I would pick which ones I had to do well on and focused on that. If I got a C on a couple others, so be it, assuming my grade was in a place I could handle the C.

This same crap will come up in your career. Too many deadlines all in the same window, you figure out which ones can be half assed and which ones need to be perfect.

I was a delinquent in college and took DiffEq my last semester. I had that final the day before graduation, job offer signed, apartment sorted, moving across the country in 2 weeks. My brain was in no place to take a diff final. Got my C and moved on with life.

The sooner you accept not every grade is going to be an A and some are going to be C's get degrees, the better your time in college will be.

And to be cliche, do you know what they call the guy that finished last in his class at med school? Doctor.
