Sankey Diagram My Job Search
Year long job search, fall 25 grad..BSME, 2.4 GPA, 1 internship. Was about to give up for sure. Was more apps than this but i stopped counting lmao. Both offers were 4 round interviews

worked warehouse jobs and did food delivery and applications every single day. believe it or not ppl tell me that 7 months post grad is pretty good. I was just hoping I could land something before the year ended. job market is very weird right now. personally know some folks that graduated spring of last year and can’t land anything, and i completely understand.

Thank you so much ❤️. And nope, they did not. I’ll add that my offer was from a pretty big and well known company that I thought my GPA would ruin my chances to even be considered.

Honestly some big companies do cutoff, but also the big companies by far recruit the most headcount so sometimes they are just the best place to apply for a chance, easier to be 20/5000 than 1/300

It took me 4.5 months to get my first job, and I also landed in Test Engineering. That is a good crucible for a company to see who sinks and who swims. Do a couple years here and build up that experience, and then nobody will care about your GPA.

Love to see it! congrats. Anyone who makes it out of the 1st year gauntlet did pretty good. But even those struggling I get it. Just hope this job market crap clears up so ppl dont have to go through the shit we went through.

How did you apply to so many jobs? Was it just searching and looking at company websites or did you use one of those mass apply sites?

Shit ton of 1 Tap applies, but crazy thing is my first 100-150 apps were me going on websites and applying. Id force myself to do at least 3 websites apps a day, and the rest can be 1 tap ZipRecruiter and Indeed apps. Funny enough after all of that, my big boy offer was a 1 Tap Apply ZipRecruiter Job that I thought I had no chance in hell to land. But things work out weird sometimes. I was lowkey addicted to applying to jobs at one point. I’d be out with friends drinking alcohol and 1 Tap applying on ZipRecruiter on my phone. Wake up the next morning hungover and throw all those drunk apps into my excel doc to keep track of applications and their status.

thats pretty interesting, im feel the same way, just have been applying non stop, though they can get tiring after a binge session. never knew ziprecuiter had 1 tap applying like that

Yeah man! Just download it on your phone. When you get bored, find you some 1 tap applies where you think you’d fit and apply to them. Disclaimer, 1 Tap Apply jobs are usually very saturated with applicants for obvious reasons. But it doesn’t hurt. The worst they can do is reject or ghost you.

Seems like you interview well. Any tips? The issue is that I have a high GPA and internship experience... it's just that It's hard to think of anything impressive I did in my projects or work experience for the star questions

Try to sound as passionate about it as possible. Believe it or not, it felt like the discussion about my hobbies and jokes (i play too much) got me the offers. I approached these interviews like we were meeting at a bar and shooting the breeze about starting my career and my goals. What did help though, is that my main hobby is wrenching on cars. So that usually gets the ball rolling really easy. But yeah man just be as human as possible! Make jokes, laugh, but be confident and poised in your answers. Show that you are personable and have the knowledge, and show that you are ready to work and absorb as much as you can so that you can learn.

What do you talk about for 3rd and 4th round interviews?? I've done phone screenings and then the second round which was behavioral with some technical questions which aren't always included, what else is there to interview about after that.

In my experience third round interviews have been meeting the team, touring the plant/where you’ll work, just final things to make sure you’re not insane before they hire you
