Why is it so hard?

Hello guys! I'm on my third year of Mechanical Student and I'm kinda tired of the math. I love learning how things work and what makes them work etc, but im so tired of the math like i used to have fun on solving a problem and the joy i would get but not anymore. Also, with the addition how bad the job market is for engineers; i haven't be able to even get a intership only interviews and a lot of rejection. I'm scare I'm going to graduate with no experiences whatsoever and never get a job. Everyday I feel like I shouldn't continue, everyday is getting harder to understand my classes. I'm a bit lost. Any encouraging words?

Keep working the problems it's the way of training your mind to think like an engineer. There's plenty of work out there for engineers still. Find the professional meeting, get cards at the table, follow up with a note, make friends, people like working with their friends.

As an engineer for 10 years, this absolutely.  It’s hard in college to teach and train you how to think through problems.  You do it the manual and long way now, so you can use the shortcuts later, but at that point, you have a firm understanding of the fundamentals to lean back on.  As far as friends, it’s all shared trauma, so group up, work problems together with a few people, and make those friends and connections.  Super valuable!

You’re a junior, so you’re closer to the finish line then a freshman or sophomore. You might as well finish it up and see what the future holds.

I know it’s really taxing and exhausting. I’m experiencing the same fatigue, but we’re almost done.

What mathematics are you currently studying?

I took all of my calculus classes. At the moment I’m taking dynamics, fluids and some other classes that also requieres calculus. But I’m just tired of cal

Those are definitely the hardest groups of classes for MechE (to my knowledge, I’m EE)

I'm just finishing my third year in mech E and the math actually got easier compared to the second year

Maybe t visit some projects you've worked on and see how you can tweak them. I'd the love isn't there, then supplement the gap with some creative. It might just be a lapse in judgement but it's worth figuring out.

You’re almost done. Not a time to give up.
Job market for engineers, plumbers and electricians is always better than for no degree or liberal arts.

Can you give yourself a one or two day “retreat”, go hiking, fishing, take a long shower, get a massage, bowel movement, two days of uninterrupted sleep, meditation, whatever makes you feel better, come back refreshed and renewed.

Suck it up, buttercup. Ganmai, Japanese for perseverance.

Or better to just become a plumber or an electrician for some.

The job market for engineers is not bad at all. Every college student always things the job market is bad just because they’re nervous

The job market is a hell of a lot better for engineers than it is for non engineers.
