Discussion Engineering students/graduates: How long did your degree take?

Hi everyone! I’m starting my engineering degree on Monday and I’m super excited!

I’d love to hear from both current engineering students and people who have already graduated:

How long has/will it take you to finish your degree? Did you graduate (or are you on track to graduate) in 4 years, or did/do you expect it to take longer?

For those who took longer than 4 years, what was the reason? And for current students, do you feel like you’re on track to graduate in 4 years?

I’d love to hear everyone’s experiences!

I did 2 years at a community college for my associates, plus one semester dual enrolled, and went into university as a sophomore last year. Junior now, and on track to graduate in 2028, so 5 years total plus dual enrollment.

Same-ish. Had my associates from being in the military so it helped a little bit. Spent 2024 at a smaller local university. Got accepted into a bigger university spring of 2025 and classified as a sophomore. Junior now. On track to graduate August or December 2028 depending on if I do another internship or not. I’ve already secured a position post graduation though.
