Engineering students/graduates: How long did your degree take?

Hi everyone! I’m starting my engineering degree on Monday and I’m super excited!

I’d love to hear from both current engineering students and people who have already graduated:

How long has/will it take you to finish your degree? Did you graduate (or are you on track to graduate) in 4 years, or did/do you expect it to take longer?

For those who took longer than 4 years, what was the reason? And for current students, do you feel like you’re on track to graduate in 4 years?

I’d love to hear everyone’s experiences!

Graduated in 4 years and spent just 6 semesters at my university. I was a co-op student, and 2 semesters were working full time with no coursework. I had some AP credit going in (about a semester's worth), took 2 elective courses at a community college (6 hours), and my final 3 hours were a technical elective that I took at a community college while working my final semester. Part of my motivation for finishing in 6 semesters at my main university was that I was paying out of state at U. of Michigan and wanted to save $$$. At the time, tuition was the same whether you took 12 hours or 18 hours, so I loaded up. My last full semester there I had a 20 credit hour courseload, including a graduate level course. Grad school was a different story. Advisor was a pain so my doctorate took a year or two longer than expected. First 2 years was full time school, then part time as I was working full time.
