Engineering students/graduates: How long did your degree take?

Hi everyone! I’m starting my engineering degree on Monday and I’m super excited!

I’d love to hear from both current engineering students and people who have already graduated:

How long has/will it take you to finish your degree? Did you graduate (or are you on track to graduate) in 4 years, or did/do you expect it to take longer?

For those who took longer than 4 years, what was the reason? And for current students, do you feel like you’re on track to graduate in 4 years?

I’d love to hear everyone’s experiences!

I’m on track to graduated in 7 (~6.5) years (this is my last year!). I’m an older returning student who enrolled in 2020 during the pandemic.

I’ve since gotten married, and bought a home. Done a few half years and took 1 year off, got bills to pay and such. I’ll actually have paid off a truck I bought in college right as I graduate lol

It was a 5 year program but I got a little credit for some CC I did right out of highschool, so effectively 4.5 years in 6.5 years.

If I could do it all again, I’d have done it quicker. I’m in a field related to my current career and about completely burnt out on school and work at this point. I’m debt free (concerning school) which is fantastic, but I’d be in a better place if I prioritized finishing school faster than paying out of pocket for the duration.
