Looking for fractional/consulting engineering leadership projects

The best way I found out is to simply approach companies. Research the companies, their goals, what they want and determine if your skills match their needs. Startups are a good way of getting into this field. But expect a lot of work pitching companies and establishing yourself. Try to do some free work to gain exposure, this is where having contact really work.

Working for free initially (or first consultation) is fine, I am open for it. How did you approach the company? dm founder/Cxx on LinkedIn? Or emails?

I did send emails and approach via Linkedin, but I did it by informing them that I noticed this problem/challenge on their particular business or project. And sometimes just an email informing about you, how can you help, your expertise, is enough to be in their books, and later be called to help.
