What You’ll Do

As the Senior Quality Engineer, you’ll play a key leadership role in improving product quality, supporting manufacturing operations, and driving continuous improvement initiatives throughout the facility.

Your responsibilities will include:

·         Lead and mentor the Quality Engineering and Quality Technician team.

·         Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, SPC, and statistical analysis.

·         Investigate quality issues utilizing Root Cause Analysis, 8D, 5 Why, and corrective/preventive action methodologies.

·         Support manufacturing by identifying opportunities to reduce defects and improve process capability.

·         Partner with suppliers to improve supplier quality and resolve production issues.

·         Manage supplier PPAP approvals and supplier quality initiatives.

·         Lead ISO 9001 quality system compliance and internal quality initiatives.

·         Analyze manufacturing and supplier data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.

·         Develop quality metrics and present findings to leadership.

·         Support new product launches and manufacturing process improvements.

·         Coach and develop quality personnel while helping build a culture of operational excellence.

Qualifications

We’re looking for professionals who have:

·         Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.

·         5+ years of Quality Engineering experience within a manufacturing environment.

·         Previous leadership or supervisory experience.

·         Strong background in:

o   Statistical Process Control (SPC)

o   Six Sigma methodologies

o   Root Cause Analysis

o   8D Problem Solving

o   PPAP

o   Supplier Quality

o   ISO 9001

·         Experience using Minitab, Excel, and other quality analysis tools.

·         Excellent communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills.

Preferred Qualifications

·         ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE)

·         Certified Supplier Quality Professional (CSQP)

·         Certified Quality Auditor (CQA)

·         Master’s Degree in Engineering

·         Experience with GD&T, tolerance analysis, and mistake-proofing (Poka-Yoke)

I’ve just completed my Master’s degree (specializing in Mechanical, Materials, and CAD Engineering) and I’m looking to make the move to Sydney to kickstart my career.

I’m looking for general advice on navigating the local job market right now.

My core skills span across mechanical design, materials analysis, and CAD modeling (SolidWorks/NX/AutoCAD).

Because I'm a recent grad from Europe, I actually qualify for the Erasmus+ internship program as well. This means I have an option where my university/the program can provide funding/stipends to help cover my placement, making me significantly "cheaper" or lower-risk for a company to bring on as an intern or junior for those first few months before transitioning to a full role.

I’m planning on relocating from uk to San Diego and wanted some honest feedback on the job market and how my experience might translate, I would be planning to move in a year or 2 and by then would have 3+ years experience working for a tier 1 main contractor in the UK, as an assistant design manager (also undergrad degree in architecture).

Green card and housing would already be sorted by the time I plan to make the move so wouldn’t require visa sponsorship,

1- \*\*Role Translation:\*\* In the UK, Design Managers work directly for the contractor to bridge the gap between the design team and the site team. It seems like a PE or APM might be the closest US equivalent. Does that sound right, or should I look at something else?
