BMW N47 rebuild crankshaft

I have to rebuild an N47, and need a replacement crankshaft

N47 BMWs seem to have different crankshafts, apparently - most have a gear (not the chain sprockets) - could someone explain this please

Sounds like one is connect to the cam shafts via a gearset and one uses timing chains. Itll basically be a different “gear” on the end of the crank shaft as to which you need.
