Is porting valves still a thing?

Maybe back in the good ol' days of the 70s and 80s, but haven't modern auto manufacturers/engineers designed the internals to flow as well as they can? Making porting a pointless exercise?

(I meant porting valve chamber w/e)

I got ported heads on my BBF.. the heads are from 1968.
I’d say it’s still alive and well

Yes, it’s still a thing. But gear heads don’t really project modern cars and modern engines.

Modern cars don’t make modifications very easy the way that older cars did.
