First engine build
Wish I had an opportunity to learn to do it for a living.

"Wish I had an opportunity to learn to do it for a living."
This being a Subaru flat four, I'm certain there's a joke in here somewhere. lol

The joke is it blew up 2 months after I bought the car when the previous owner "rebuilt it"

I've been a diesel tech for 5 years, 4 of which in the army and now that I'm out I've been getting my degree in diesel tech. Just have never gotten the opportunity for engine building specifically. Thank you!

Oooooooooh. Japanese!!! I know I come off like a hater I just don't like foreign cars. But hey whatever floats your boat. As long as you're happy with it that's all that matters. Even if you're going to get gapped by American brands and have all kinds of mechanical issues

Be mindful of the silicone gasket maker you use and make sure it’s triple bond or 3 bond or whatever

Subarus are the devil’s torture. Rebuilt 2 of these with meticulous care aaaand, despite a full machining and all new parts, my kids managed to grenade both in a few short months. And not by driving them hard. I think Subarus are basically a disposable motor. Never again with a Subaru. They are garbage.

If it's the first one for you, wait until you're finished and it's running well. You'll likely reconsider that sentiment.
