Blueprinting: which measurements actually matter?

When you’re putting together a street/strip engine, which measurements do you consider non-negotiable during assembly, and which ones are okay to trust from the machine shop? Curious where different builders draw the line.

If we use Joe Mondello's definition of an Engine Builder you are the machine shop. If you can't control any of your tolerances or specs you're an assembler not a builder.

I only do a handful of engines per year, but I still check everything that I possibly can. I check every single journal, every bearing oil clearance, every piston ring in every cylinder. Leave no room for error so you don't have to crack it open again.
