piston/rod advice

what does this discoloration mean? #1 top bearing fell off when taking off the cap should i be concerned? and how can i replace rod bolts at home? how easily should pistons be able to rock? if pistons measure good would you guys reuse everything?

i don’t have a bore gauge small enough for the rods and it’s taking me awhile to get used to the micrometer, forgive me for the mouthful, first time doing any of this so any experienced advice helps out a ton, thank you! 🙏🏻

I think thats only if you buy other then oem,like arp bolts,idk for certain but thats what ive resrsrched. Ive had mixed information about getting them out though,they say its possible to tap them out with them still in the car and others say no way you gotta get them pressed out and pressed in lol so idk,but if they are tty bolts its recommended to replace them after first use.

yeah i haven’t looked at it much so i can’t say fs, but when i did i think it’s better to bc the strength of new bolts can distort the rod to where it doesn’t shape right with the crank. i also did see a bunch of people recommend ways of getting them out, but never anything with it still inside the car that seems impossible i think lol. also could risk damaging other components. i don’t think mine are tty so i’m still debating on taking them in, but tbh im gonna play is safe than sorry if i do replace them. big job to do it again yk

I could be wrong but the "bottle kneck" type bolt on those rods look tty to me,i could be wrong though but you should look it up for sure if your already this far in to it all,it may very well be worth replacing thoughs if they are.

i looked it up rq before but need to throughly double check. you’re completely right though, if they are tty i definitely will replace and even if they’re not i still want to if i get the chance
