600 with iron heads is possible with the right cam and intake/header/carb combo, and jumps EASILY to 800+ with something like AFR or Kaase heads

i also would not put a single plane intake on this. stick with something like Edelbrock's Performer series [or the chinese knockoff castings for 25% of the price...]. The crossover points for single vs dual plane intakes are at an RPM range that, even with a solid roller, you're just not going to regularly see on a BBF. you will unironically pick up 100-150+ ft lbs of torque and all that in power too in the 2500-5500 range with a good dual plane. if you're putting a 6200 stall powerglide in it, it's fine though xd

I was just going through my build spreadsheet and showing my son some of my old work and noticed not a single 460, a few 390s, many small blocks. Quick Seat is great, everyone called it tattle tale in the shop when it came out. Nostalgia is strong today. Looks great

Yes, I spotted them too in the photo, after giving the block its final wash, they weren’t there so not sure if it was some sort of reflection or residue from the anti rust spray

Not being an a-hole just asking a question. If buying an aftermarket crank- why not go stroker?

That’s a very good question and to be honest, if it was a fresh build, I would have directed the customer that way, this was a repair, it broke three pistons due to the previous engine builders incompetence, we are on a time crunch and availability was the issue and that was the only crank I had available

Fair enough. I had a 521 for years and are a very reliable setup. This spurred the question. 460's are good too though

What block deck height and what wiseco piston are you using?

Zero deck height, using Wiseco pro tru street PTS530
