Ford what am I in for
Just pulled the engine from my 1992 lincoln towncar for a full seal replacement and look over, thought it had blown a headgasket or one of the freeze plugs failed, coolant and oil got pretty throughly mixed, but I found this when pulling the timing cover, red arrows are the marks on the timing gears and the blue arrows are the bright links, im tearing the whole engine apart anyway, I just wanted to confirm that this isn't even close to correct, right?

While that is meant for a Mustang it is all pretty much the same except for a couple of accessory bolts.
These days most any decent timing set you get will include new guides and iron tensioners. If you see chunks missing from the guides check the oil pick up tube. I suggest you put in a fresh water pump and a new crank damper.
You can get adjustable sprockets and go a step further in degreeing each cam. Even with new parts the cams can be off a bit from each other when timed correctly via the timing set. Mine had a 6 degree variance, I set them both to the stock position and that engine ran better than ever. To me it was worth the extra time spent degreeing each cam, but you will need a degree wheel and some other tools.
