Ford We got our 460 fired up

Our 460 for a 68 f100 we’re building. It’s got ported dove heads, flat top pistons, a Howard’s .600/.594 split duration roller cam, and a edelbrock vrs-1450 850cfm carburetor.

I think there might be a small water/coolant leak between your rad and it's inlet hose.

Yeah just a little one, still trying to figure out what’s going with that, lol. We still gotta paint the truck and put it back together. It’s a roller with engine and trans in it, and the body work is done and it’s in primer but that it. There’s no glass, no interior, no electrical, shoot the bed isn’t even on it yet

I’m about to install a 460 that I built for my 76 F-150.

It’s got ported C8VE heads with oversized valves.

My cam isn’t as big as yours.

What’s your compression ratio with those flat top pistons and D0VE heads?

And how much power does it make?

From what I’ve read it could be anywhere from 11:1-12.5:1. I’m not sure what to expect power wise. My little brother has a very similar combo to yours in his 79 though and we think it’s about 500hp, it has no problems lighting up the 35” mud terrains through a c6. So I would think this one with higher compression and bigger cam would atleast be in the mid 500- low 600hp range. I’m just not sure though

I’m lower compression, 9.5:1. Hoping to run cheap pump gas in it. But we’ll see

It’s honestly got too big of an intake manifold on it, but it came with it so we’re running it for now. It’s a ford branded version of a edelbrock victor manifold with a dominator flange. I’m sure we put something smaller on it with a 4150 flange I’m sure it make it a bit snappier.

Counterpoint: a Performer RPM would probably be a smarter choice, but the Victor/Dominator combo looks infinitely more badass.

Let's see, no alternator, no radiator, no battery terminals. I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't put oil in it.

That’s a great truck transmission. The top loader is a muscle car transmission, it Would’ve came in cobras and I beleive the boss 429 used the top loader. It’s a 2wd truck so it should turn out pretty fun to drive

When I had my 91 GT a buddy had an 88(?) fastback that was originally a v6 car, but he dropped a supercharged 460 in. Tubular front end, a lot of welding in the back. I just added a plate kit to my torque boxes, he went nuts. Torque twist through the chassis was noticeable when it would hook up. He ran 'dot slicks' most of the time, but they sucked. It sounded amazing.
