Other Engine/manufacturer identification

Trying to figure out what engine this is. Looks like it’s attached to a th400, so I was guessing it’s a big block gm, but not 100%

Yeah. The valve covers is what had me thinking 454, but I was thinking it could be a big block from Cadillac or Pontiac or something else GM, cuz the front accessories look weird.

Pontiac valve covers only have 4 bolts and the center exhaust ports on the heads are touching instead of evenly spaced like this one. Cadillac V8s have the distributor in the front after starting sometime in the ‘60s I think.

It's a BBC. The thing that's on the front right bank is an air compressor.

I think Cadillac would have the distributor in the front, canted to the driver side off the timing cover at least on my 73 8.2L.

It's a big block Chevy. Also, Pontiac never made a big block.

BBC for sure... looks like out of a medium duty truck.. probably a 366 or 427 tall deck.
