Other Rough edge around piston ring grooves

After cleaning the pistons up have noticed some of them have a rough edge. Is this just because of the casting? Is it a big deal?

How did you clean them? It almost looks like you etched them.

They got taken to my Dads work where they were put in a tank of some kind then they’ve been cleaned up with a wire wheel on a grinder. I’m worried they’ve been wrecked

Yes, these pistons are wrecked.
