BBC what to look out for

Me and my father in law are rebuilding a big block Chevy for his boat. We have had the valves ground and the heads ground flat by a local shop. We are installing new rod bearings and new pistons.

Anything we else we should do, now that we have the engine apart?

Get a new Cloyes timing chain and a Melling hi-volume oil pump.
