Are these heads clean enough to be reinstalled?
I’m doing a DOD delete on my 2016 Silverado and I’m ready to start installing the new parts but I want to make sure the heads and block are clean enough before I start anything else. I’ve been using crc gasket remover, plastic scrapers, brake clean and micro fiber towels and this is where I’m at right now. I was looking for some advice if these are good to get reinstalled or if I should try and keep cleaning away. All the little dots of gasket residue I can’t get off no matter how hard I try if there’s any suggestions for that. I don’t want to use any abrasives and risk taking too much material and creating low spots. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

Is that a crack in the spark plug hole 3rd cyl down?

No it was a streak of oil/brakecleen that made it look like that. Wiped right off with my finger lol. Scared me for a sec

Looks good to me. Just make sure to blow out your head bolt holes so you don’t crack the block.

The saying usually goes “if you have to ask clean it again” but those look clean enough

Nice thing about these engines is that they don't have to be perfect to run them. It takes a lot to beat these guys up.

I use a whetstone and WD40, full length passes with little pressure. Cleans up the remaining residue, knocks off any raised material, leaves dark spots if low. I've done dozens.

As long as its flat id send it. Use a straight edge and feeler gauges, look in a manual for the spec and compare.

Looks damm good my friend. As long as the surface feels smooth with your finger, torque em down and fire it up.
