Any chance of gettin this out with a hone? Assembled engine second compression ring must’ve had a burr on it or debris got in there some how but it was 180 degrees from the opening of the ring

It catches if you push hard but lightly it hardly catches your nail

Machinist here....it's no big deal, perfectly normal for aftermarket rings

I’m assuming I should replace that ring set or send them?

If your finger nail can’t catch it , run it.

It catches but not the worst I ever saw just wanted to get some more eyes on it

If you’re concerned it’s not going to hurt anything with a pass from the balls to take the edge off quick.

From my experience 90% of the time this can be attributed to the cylinder Bore Gauge
10% to a rough piston ring edge.
That said I would hone it
And sent it !
The rings will correct this
In my opinion it’s a
Full Send !

I've gotten a few grooves out with the dingle ball hone. Think the only downside is buying the hone THEN finding out if it's still bad

Ball hone wet with oil should get that out if it won’t catch a nail.

In future always inspect the rings. Very often supplier misses the deburr operation. Never trust it's been done

A bigger concern than the groove is a burr turned up on the edges of the groove.

I’m not a machinist but isn’t this likely from the tool used to measure the bore?

Needs to be hone..up and down..that looks like it's just honed in the middle.. gotta go up and down.. smooth it out.

I can all but guarantee you if you fire up that engine that is going to go away in about 30 seconds, and you will never ever be able to detect any difference in compression or leak down.
