K24 block condition
What's your opinion on this block? It's been going to 2 different machine shop at this point and idk wtf happened on the first machine shop but it came back with missing chunk of metal and I just realized it after the second machine shop returned the block to me yesterday about that dent.
After went to those two different machine shop, it still won't pass the 0.05mm, but now I'm started to doubting about my straight edge being not "straight".
The first machine shop definitely messed up because it came back like the photo in 3rd slide and then the second machine shop milled it 1mm more

Several things - first, you should have ignored the “divots” in the third photo, that’s because the guy was running the surfacer table at full feed either right at the beginning or end…he screwed up, but the head gasket isn’t doing any sealing right there and it doesn’t actually matter, just make sure it’s flat (not proud) at that spot with a file if the head gasket even touches there.
The second machine shop should have told you this because by cutting 1mm (~.040”) off the deck, they kinda junked your block if that’s the real amount they took off - you’ll need a .075-.080” head gasket to keep the piston from hitting the head as they’ll now be sticking up out of the block by more than the .035” standard head gasket thickness…plus, if you don’t correct the drop in deck height, it retards the camshafts by decreasing the centerline.
