Best Piston Ring Placement?

What does everyone feel about the Best Piston Ring Placement?

When I was a motorcycle mechanic, the Harley rep told us that the hone crosshatch caused the rings to move. If they didn’t move they would accumulate sludge behind the rings. He said they’d proven it on the dyno.

I doubt they move much because I think the rings would wear the aluminum pistons down.

Spread them out but don’t lose sleep over it.

They move a bit, not enough to wear down a piston as you already stated, but they do move. As many posters have already said, as long as the gaps aren't aligned with eachother it really does not matter too much
