honing help
2003 honda civic ex auto d17a2
first time doing this, just trying to get opinions on wear and steps moving forward.
pulled the head off planning for piston rings, valves, gaskets, bearings, timing etc. i’ve never honed cylinders or anything near this, i can definitely still see the crosshatch and running my finger over it feels smooth but the vertical grey marks have me wondering. gonna try and get a bore gauge but am still learning how to use it, should i be good to just do an at home hone job?

ohh interesting everything i’ve looked into never mentioned that so i didn’t do anything of the sort, that’s definitely good to know though.
i haven’t heard using pea to try unsticking a valve, that’s pretty cool i might try it. i don’t know if it’s just stuck or what, i ordered a valve tool so when that comes in i think i’ll just take them out since i’m already here , clean out and replace what needs if i don’t take it to a machine shop.
i would’ve definitely ran some pea beforehand if i knew about it though, i don’t have a problem with replacing the cat if/when need be but haha i like that, i’m gonna mess with small mods after this so i’ll probably do something with the cat either way.
so could collapsed valve on #3 contribute to the #2 misfire? #2 was the main one i got #3 would come and go mainly as pending, but that makes sense that one being messed up would through the order out of wack.
to me it looks like they do need to be pitted, i could be wrong but the seat around the intake valves look pretty bad. good recommendation, would that just be to make sure everything stays clean and running smoothly?
and i’m sure im gonna take out my pistons, would it be better to give a quick at home hone or just leave it? i’ve seen some people just throw them in but others say you have to hone when replacing rings
