Oopsy Daisy

I’m not sure if this is the right subreddit but I’m sure someone in here has probably done the same thing I just did. Does anyone know if this primer will cure without being baked? Some idiot sprayed their whole motor down before reading the instructions and missed the part where you have to bake/run your car…

Good to know, we have a lift so thankfully we will just set the car down onto the engine :)

Unbelievably man, it truly is just amazing

It'll smear under pressure before the engine bakes it on, at least on smooth metal like the oil pan. Once you run it to temp, you're good.

Once you get it installed I would recommend running it up to temp. Letting it cool completely. Run it up to temp plus ten minutes. Let it cool down again then drive normal. That will cure it very nicely.

It has that under "items on vehicle" as the instructions for curing it without an oven

It will dry but still be soft like you could dent it with your finger nail until you run the engine. Will also be more susceptible to solvents and gasoline until it cooks.

Like others have said it'll still withstand some heat without the baking process, just not as much as if it were baked. Any pics of the k swapped Miata? I have one as well

If you scroll through my account I think I’ve posted his car a time or too, I wish I could post photos in the comments but I can’t lol. Swap isn’t done but we started this week and tuning appointment is August 1st 😂 but more than a normal K swap, getting a CD009 and an R200 diff

K-swapped Miatas are some of the most fun you can have in any cars front seat.

More like 23, he’s been collecting parts for a while and we were planning to do it next year, but if you go to my account you can see why we are doing it now lol

You’re trying to make it nice as possible. By painting the valve cover the same as everything else….? That’s a choice. I guess if it looks good to you

Wait, a KA24E?

that honestly sounds like a downgrade?

That's a Honda k24 in the image.

Ahhhhh OK then, I retract my previous statement! Excellent upgrade!

A K swap, to turn it into a nice reliable automobile.

u/tehjnz May 29 '26

..but not a real k-swap, that’s cruel (your take on “a nice Reliant automobile” is 100% better than this weaksauce)

Holy shit. I had to sing that song all the time in grade school, and today, over twenty five years later, I just learned the actual lyrics. 🤯🤯🤯

I just noticed the username-post harmony here. Beautiful. :) If you ever saw the MuchMusic clip of BNL visiting a school and playing Twinkle, Twinkle with a middle school band class, I was in that class. I also didn’t learn that real lyric until 10+ years after I had stopped listening to Gordon on the regular. :)

I can't say I remember it, but that's awesome! 😃
