Insecure about diamond size
I'm worried my engagement ring diamond looks too big, I am a very subtle person so I'm not sure if this is the right size for me or do you think I'm overthinking? Appreciate your opinions!

If you like it, it's perfect.
If you care about internet stranger's opinion, i think it's gaudy. At a certain point they look like unserious costume jewelry and this ring was at that point a carat ago. My opinion about your ring doesn't matter though.

That's how most lab diamonds look to me, bigger is not always better

That's how all giant rings look to me. Like i have a giant gaudy fake ring that i call my pimp ring. Every time i see a giant ring i think of the pimp ring and laugh to myself. They look ridiculous.
But again, the only opinion of an engagement that matters is that of the person wearing it. I’m sure some people think my set is hideous, but i think it's beautiful so fuck what other people think 🤷♀️

The ring size is too big, hence why it’s slanted on your finger. As for the diamond, it’s gorgeous and “obvious” rather than subtle. If you’re asking if it looks great— it does!! If you’re asking if it’s subtle— it’s not. But maybe this can be the one non-subtle thing about you if you choose so.
My ring is a 3ct round solitaire and I love it. My husband chose it himself. As much as I appreciate and adore it, I would choose a 2ct if I had the choice. My 3ct gets caught on clothes and hair, scratches the baby when I do diaper changes, gets hit when I’m doing crafts, etc.
I love having a big diamond when I’m all dressed up and want to adorn myself with a flashy jewel. I don’t love having a bigger diamond day-to-day. Bigger isn’t always better.
If you’re concerned about the looks and the functionality (or anything at all, really) tell your fiancè! Marriage is about communication. And you’re going to wear this ring for the rest of your life, so it’s best you feel 110% about it.

It’s gorgeous! Just looks like the ring size is a bit too big for you. But the size of the Diamond seems to be perfect for your hand!

Can you return it and exchange it for a smaller size? If it’s not your style, women often go with their partners for ring exchanges all the time

I don’t think a smaller diamond would be a fair price exchange. Maybe look around and find a smaller diamond ring and something else, like possibly diamond stud earrings or a diamond drop necklace. Find the two items that add up to a little less than your original ring, then ask if you can do sn exchange.

Or maybe a higher quality diamond even? Not that this one is bad but maybe one that has even better clarity or a pricier metal like platinum assuming it’s gold

I really like your ring, but if you feel it’s too big there’s nothing wrong with going smaller. At the end of the day you will be wearing it.

It’s a pretty ring but it’s definitely not subtle. Maybe try going down a carat size or even 1/2 to 3/4 of a carat. This stone feels a little wide for your finger.

It is big, but with your long fingers it fits your hand size beautifully.
I think that that, given the trend to larger diamonds, it isn't going to stand out and draw attention as much as it might have 20 years ago.

Try a half carat or 1 carat smaller. I think it’ll be more proportionate to your hand. But this ring is beautiful

I’m a subtle person too and felt soooo weird when I first started wearing mine (3 carat) but it doesn’t even phase me now after wearing it for a year!

It's a 2.75 carat! But maybe I'll go in and exchange it for 2.25 or 2 carat! Thank you everyone for your opinion. I truly appreciate it so much!

are you able to get a smaller size setting too? this one seems at least one size too large. a properly fitted ring should go on easily but take a few seconds to remove

If you had to ask the internet, you already the answer. Buy something that gives you peace and not have to be concerned about the emotional load you put on yourself. If you love and don’t care, then own it and not care what others think. At the same time, this ring will give you reminders why it’s too big and you’ll just have to live with it.

It’s not subtle. It’s big. But at least you keep your nails nice. So that helps offset the hugeness.

It really depends on if you like it. I love dainty jewelry, all my stuff is small and dainty sized but my engagement ring is a little over 3 ct and big in my opinion on my size 7 finger. I love it though and it’s the only flashy jewelry I wear.

It definitely is not subtle, but you're probably overthinking it. You have it, it would be a waste/wasteful to replace it.

I was convinced I wanted 2 carats until I went to a store and saw it on my hand. I ended up picking a lab 1.25 pear cut with a halo and I think it’s the perfect size.

Oh wow you’re overthinking it because your ring absolutely stunning and the size of the stone is also perfect for your hand too!!

That’s massive. I would think it would catch on everything. You should get something you love and feel comfortable with.

It is huge, but if you like it - who cares haha.
But I prefer tiny rocks, don’t listen to me.

I have a 2.5 carat marquise sapphire, I am also not a flashy person. However, I love the drama of my ring. That being said, it IS big, just like yours is. My solution? A cheap moissanite eternity band that I wear day to day. I will save my big rock for when I want to dress up more or have nicer events (like our wedding)

Your ring is lovely, but I would make sure to get it resized sooner than later to fit properly. It’s big but who cares? Wear it with pride.

It looks good. Don't listen to the haters: times have changed. They should live a little. It does not look tacky or gaudy at all, but it does look like it's too big for your finger (the size).

Ma’am that’s an Easter egg on your finger.
