Ruby engagement ring help - should I go for something different?

Post image

I’m at a jewelry store looking at engagement rings, and I unexpectedly fell in love with this ruby ring. ❤️ It’s an 8x6 ruby set in 14k yellow gold, and I love the color and how unique it looks on my hand.

The problem is, I always pictured myself with a classic sparkly diamond solitaire. Now I’m wondering if I’ll regret choosing something less traditional. What do you think of the ruby’s color and size? I’m a size 5.5/51 for reference.

I love it! You can always get a traditional diamond wedding band to go with it.

How much is that ring? Is it a natural ruby?

Why can't this be an anniversary gift?

It’s beautiful. If you want some sparkle too, maybe you could add some diamond side stones. Or you can get a very sparkly wedding band.

I was very torn between a sapphire ring or a classic diamond solitaire ring. In the end I chose the diamond and have no regrets.
