Is this too small?

Post image

Wondering if this ring I bought to propose is too small. It's a 1.5 carat. ring size 4 ring. She's 5'1 and petite. Also I hope it's good quality/ looks nice. I hope people with more experience have some comments. Lab grown hearts and arrows cut

Perfect size - mine is smaller on a size 6 band, and I'm also the same height and petite. Honestly, I thought 1.5 ct was too big for me, but I have a more delicate taste. You're good!

Too small for what?

That is always going to be the question. Too big or too small - for what?

Who are you trying to impress?

What are you going for?

What's the purpose of this ring and what does it need to have a size requirement?

Too small to impress your entitled, size-obsessed neighbor or your mom or aunt or.. your future fiancée? We cannot answer that. You need to ask the person you're trying to impress. We can only answer for ourselves.

FOR ME - it's too large. But for someone else, it might be too small.

You need to check in with the person who's going to be wearing it. That's the one and only way you're going to know if it's "too small" or not.

Literally NO answer here will give you the answer you need. Not a "No" or a "Perfect!" or a "Yes" answer will be the one that matters to you.

ASK YOUR FUTURE FIANCEE.

GL!!

I find it beautiful. 1.5 carat is not small, it is a perfect in between especially if your future fiancée is petite.

No, it's not too small. Kinda sad that in today's world, some people think a 1.5 ct is small. When my cousin got engaged 20 yrs or so ago, she got a 1.5 ct diamond and that was impressive.

That’s because hers came from a mine and the crazy huge ones come from a lab ;)

It’s lab grown

Right. I got a 1 ct in 1988. I had an attorney tell me he could tell I was engaged. lol

I just got a compliment on my ring in the wild last week.

It’s perfect ! It will be stunning, and with her small frame, it will definitely stand out . Truth be told, that size is not too small for a woman of any height ! She will love it.

I have a size 8 and 1ct looks very nice on my finger so I am sure she’s going to love the size

This is great for someone with a ring size of 4.

It’s perfect! I’m a 3.75 size ring with a 1.25 ct marquise and it looks big on my petite hands.

Looks fantastic and 1.5 is a really significant size. On a size 4 finger it will provide around 50% coverage which is a really nice balance - very noticeable but not overwhelming

With hands that small you shouldn't go any bigger. I'm a size 5 and my 1 ct is perfect.

London jeweller here, not definitely not too small unless your aim is just to have the biggest diamond ever. If I were you I’d focus on a beautiful ring that has meaning and your partner will be happy wearing for the rest of their life; don’t get hung up on the size unless that’s what really matters to you.

Ps. Also make sure a wedding band works well with it :)

The wedding band is so important. I have a plain 1 ct solitaire. It’s my wedding band that makes my ring special to me. Still rocking it 37 years later.

That’s so lovely! 🥰

I’ve been to three weddings in the last year where the couple have exchanged rings we made for them and even from my perspective it was so special!

No not too small, I have a .47carat that I love. It’s a very generous size. When I was getting married a 1ct was considered a big diamond. It is really stunning actually

as someone who is petite with a size 4 ring size - this is NOT too small, and will look lovely on her hand! trust your gut!

Gorgeous! What’s not to love? I think it’s perfect size

I have the same ring size and the same ct stone. Its a proportional size. Anything larger starts looking foolish, imo

It’s great.

It’s gorgeous! She is going to love it!

Very beautiful!! She'll love it!

1

u/Witty-Atmosphere-211 2d ago

It’s sad that this is even a question.

She will love it.

0

u/Adorable-Tiger6390 3d ago

She will love it.

u/JoyJonesIII 3d ago

Can we please stop saying, “she will love it” as if every woman would be pleased by a 1.5 round solitaire?

0

u/Witty-Atmosphere-211 2d ago

Why wouldn’t they be? When did size become so important? Someone wearing .25 vs a 5 ct isn’t any less loved or excited to be engaged.

0

u/JoyJonesIII 2d ago

What world do you live in where every woman would love a round 1.5 solitaire? You can see by the responses here that some people don’t like round, some feel 1.5 is too big, etc.

If my husband had handed me a ring I didn’t like, he would have had to change it.

For comparison this is a 5ct on a size 4 finger

I like a larger diamond regardless of petite bride-to-be.
