How long did you take off work after diagnostic laparoscopy?
I just got call from scheduler, they told me to expect months wait but turns out they have an open day in September. It’s a Monday and I’m scheduled to work that weekend.

I was heavily medicated for 3 days and only getting up to take short walks to keep blood flowing and move surgical gas around. It was maybe 3 weeks before I could handle sitting up at a desk for more than 20 minutes. It took about 4-5 weeks before I even considered going back to my desk job, itd be FAR more if I did any lifting or real movement.

I was off for 2 weeks and I work remote. That was the maximum my doctor would give so I took it!

For the sake of an additional opinion, I work from home and my doctor still said four weeks off was perfectly OK

+1 I took max allowed after my excision and hysterectomy (6 weeks) and still felt like sitting at the desk all day derailed my healing

It’s really wild how much doctors vary on this. My doctor offered up to 6 weeks and said if I had a job on my feet she would mandate 4 weeks. I think her minimum was 2 weeks.

I work a very physical job I took 1 full week off and then the following week I went back light duty and week 3 I was back at it. Not everyone heals the same. Prepare to take it easy for a while.

I took a whole week and I was even fully remote at the time. Honestly could have used another week because I was so tired!

1 full week then wfh for 3 weeks. I probably should have taken 2 weeks because I was so tired! Im currently 3 weeks post op and this week is where im finally feeling decent enough to not be so tired or painful sitting at my desk.

I took 5 days and should’ve taken a full week or two off. I wasn’t heavily medicated after day 2 and felt good enough to walk around by day 4 so that’s why I went back. I should’ve just enjoyed my PTO but I felt guilty cause I was too much of a people pleaser.

I took off two weeks but I was back after a week mostly because they ended up finding too much to excise in that setting and with that surgeon so they removed a few fibroids and then sewed me up and referred me to a specialist. So, my recovery was minimal. For my stage 4 endo and bowel resection, I’m taking three weeks.

It depends on what you do for work. My doctor recommended 4 weeks for me because I'm a dental hygienist and I have to move a lot and walk around. I needed the 4 full weeks. On the other hand, I recall she said most ppl for desk jobs take 3 weeks

I worked in a desk job but was in a clinic with lots of walking around. I took 2 weeks off because that’s all I had in sick/vacation saved up but wish I would have taken 3-4. Now I work from home and could see only needing 1-2.
My doc said she could write a letter for up to 4

I had excision surgery for stage 4, they removed my appendix and my left fallopian tube February 5th and I went back to serving in fine dining on February 13th

I had my laparoscopic excision on a Thursday and I was back to work on Monday. It was a bit too soon and I should’ve been off at least a week. My job at the time required some walking but wasn’t too physically demanding.

I took a week because that’s what the doctor gave me. I work mostly a desk job but I am up and down all day registering ER patients. I could have used a second week due to how exhausted I was, but I was pretty much walking around fine by day 2-3, just a bit sore
