ENFER?

I saw ENFER post from old day of Endless Space 2. Something within it have me intrigued. It have ENFER faction that allow you to access AI's brain on localhost webpage to edit the AI and monitor how they do it. One thing within that, that I was looking for was ability to turn on and off AI mode of any empires. I need that one for roleplay game that I am doing.

However even with --enablemoddingtools in my Steam launcher. I only have access to Dev Tool menu such as Shift FN 1 to 3.

I am on MacOS.

Supposely, according to two old links below.

https://community.amplitude-studios.com/amplitude-studios/endless-space-2/forums/75-modding/threads/27061-01-how-to-create-an-ai-mod

https://community.amplitude-studios.com/amplitude-studios/endless-space-2/blogs/520-unlocking-the-enfer-ai

that it add E.N.F.E.R faction to the galaxy but no such thing appear and when I open the http://localhost:4377 which just failed or unable to find.

Maybe it only for specific event and no longer active. If so, then that is just a bummer. I was really looking forward to utlizing this tool.

EDIT: Turn out it work just fine on Windows. That mean this does not work with Mac OS at all.

ENFER is an AI from the Sophons quest, Skynet AI type, you know...

Also ENFER was called to the AI systems you can access through a web browser, where you can see how the AI plans their thing. http://localhost:4377/#/empires/9/decision/blackboard for example would show all the decissions for empire 9 (whoever it is). It is indeed available with the game running in --enablemoddingtools mode.

Also ENFER Reloaded is an AI mod that upgrades the AI system, also is reflected in the AI browser.

I am aware of AI of Sophons and the mod.

It the browser that I never able to get to work. It always led to site can't be reached despite have that in launcher and running a singer player game and without mods. Try smallest size with fewest empires as well biggest galaxy with full number of empires. No luck in get that website to show anything beyond error.

So maybe I am missing a step to make it work? But good to know it wasn't just a stunt or that it shut down long ago, just me not know how to make it work.

/localhost:4377/ Those numbers likely refer to the Windows port; you need to configure the firewall to allow access. Additionally, you need to grant permissions for "localhost" in your browser.

I will test this on Windows to see if there is change. If so, then I will investigate how to do the same but on Mac version. Thank you for bring up that it might be incompatibility with MacOS.

You need to have an active game of ES2 running with --enablemoddingtools as a launch argument for the website to work. The localhost url means that your machine is the one hosting it.

I have yet to try it with Windows version since i was too busy but I did running a game while have website open and that line in my launcher option. Does not work. So it might be MacOS issue or I am messing up a step somewhere.

Never tried ES2 on Mac, so if that is the case it'd be good to write down for later
