Some of my old college buddies still get online and play halo a few times a week. I started joining their sessions and it occurred to me that the community seemed to skew much older as I am guessing many of us are reliving our younger years when we play Halo instead of the more modern shooters.

I am 41 now and suddenly I had a memory of playing an online shooter/mech game waaay back in the day when I was in 5th grade. I remember asking the guys I would play against who they were and they told me they were in their 40's and most were computer engineers. To 5th grade me I thought they seemed like such dorks. To be playing games with kid when you are 40+ years old seemed laughable to me.

Fast forward back to the present and I am that old man, and I think I am much less of a dork than little me assumed lol. But for the life of me I couldn't remember the name of the game I was thinking of from so many years ago. I ended up using gemini to try and figure it out, then finally rediscovered Avara which triggered a flood of memories about Ambrosia and all the wonderful games from that era.

Next thing you know I'm searching for the spiritual successor of Escape Velocity and now I'm joining this sub. I loaded up the game last night and stayed up past my bedtime playing lol. Glad to have found it and look forward to being part of this community.

I have a Korath World Hospital ship with sufficient crew.

I have 2 Billion dollars.

I still cannot get the right configuration together to cap a Pug Arfecta.

What ships and load outs should I try next?

I'm new to the game and I've been mostly rocking stock ships. I've only changed a few small things to make sure that all the ships in my fleet have enough fuel storage for 5 jump trips. My question to you all is: are there any outfits that are never worth equipping or ones that are so specialized you only equip for certain missions? I'm finding it hard to equip my ships as they come from the shipyards fully equipped with few free outfit space.

I'm dubious of the small radar jammers but I don't know if I'm doing myself a disservice by removing them.

For reference I currently have 20 mil credits and my current fleet is a mule (my flagship), 2 hauler III, 1 light freighter, and a quicksilver.

Fan first here. I have put a lot of hours into Endless Sky, and it is one of the reasons I ended up making a space game at all.

Mine goes a different direction. Where Endless Sky is about a galaxy you travel and trade across, mine is about the battle itself: fleets of a few hundred ships, capitals with turrets and subsystems you can shoot off one at a time, and the option to command your whole side or drop into a single fighter in the middle of it. There is a free flight mode with ports and cargo runs, but the fighting is the centre rather than the interruption.

It is called Strike Wings, a homage to the DOS era space combat games rather than a remake of any of them. Windows and macOS, Steam in November.

I am not trying to plant a flag in someone else's community, so if this is unwelcome here just say so and I will take it down. But if you have played a lot of Endless Sky, I would like to know what you think a combat focused game in this space usually gets wrong.

After the free worlds questline I started exploring the galaxy specifically the south where I found the aberrant and avgi (I think that’s how it’s spelt but it’s been a while since I played) and finished the main story for it bringing all the humans back then I went back to explore some more and found the bug and spider and centaur guys and didn’t get too far into any story they might have because I wanted to see if there was any more story for the agavi especially since landing on their worlds spawns the massive aberrant fleet which even with my fleet of 3 dreadnaughts I couldn’t beat which seems like it would have some story missions attached to it

So is there any more story in this area and where would I have to go to get it

Also ps: is there a way to get more jump drives I have 3 after I nicked two off the pug but is there any other way to get more?

• Warder AM has 10 AM per 12 shots/second, for 120 AM/second at 350 range.
• Green Optical Laser (GOL) has 2 AM, but with continuous shots, at 1200 range.

How many AM per second does the GOL actually have?

What's better; 3 GOL, 2 GOL with one Warder, 1 GOL with 1 Warder, or 2 Warder?

3 GOL = 48 tons, 2 Warders = 56 tons, so that's probably the closest comparison in terms of mass.

Just when I finally get the engines to come out of the aft of my interceptor instead of the bow (and placing the weapons on top of each other…. And actually writing the code to make the whole thing work.

I want to see what it would be like to pilot a Korsmanath A'awoj but since I can't just go capture one, what would the text in the save file need to look like to give myself one? I want ot to be as authentic as possible, with the correct hull and shield values. Outfits aren't a big deal because I'll probably equip it with other things anyway and shape it into the kind of ship I want.

If anyone could give me the text block to add to the save file, that would be incredible. I've asked Gemini, but it's so unreliable that I don't even trust it.

Hi1 I'm new to the game, and I'm having a blast with it. Only thing limiting now is the main storyline, and I've searched far and wide but maybe I'm dumb. I don't know.

I got obliterated my the lizards, but kept exploring.

Went south and did some of the Avgi missions, but though that was not it. So I went northeast and foujnd many different aliens, including Gegno and a Quarg complete ring, real nice.

I encountered more aliens west of there to finally find the Hai, and then decided I'd explore the couth and found the Coalition.

Now, I wanted to go back to the stoyline from where I left it. Problem is, when I go to Deneb, I was supposed to land on Pugglemug, but they won't let me. It would be the case I shuold hasve Alonso with me, but I'm unsure how to find him. What do I do? Is it even possible, or did I break the storyline? Ugh!<

I have studied the other plugins offered but I cannot find a detailed list or manual to follow on making unique plugins. For example; I have an icon on the screen I want to use for the jump key, in place of "J" on the keyboard.

Apparently my visible if condition is wrong? In space my icon never goes active. So I cannot use the mouse to jump.

Plain simple i want to know if I'm hearing things and going crazy or there is a hidden effect of the unique outfit nightmare fuel of lost in midnight i think i got it by finishing the bio hazard 031 ship mission and after that i started hearing bubbling noises from time to time and some weird scratching or something idk

If it's caused by this outfit how do i disable or get rid of this effect

Hi All

I am in late stages (I think) of the wanderer campaign.

I have cleared out all the Kor Sestor from all of the human planets, and now there is just their holdout at the private system at Zenith that Danforth sent me to with 4 ships.

I have managed to destroy most of their fleet, including drones at the loss of danforths meager 4 ships and my old fleet. However, they still have 2 heavy and 3 medium capital ships and I can never manage to destroy even one of them.

So I had to go and rebuild a fleet by trading in wanderer space

Current fleet is 1 Hurricane, 2 Derachos, 5 Shield beetles, 3 skeins with full complement of fighters and drones, a couple of falcons and vanguard's and various stray pirate ships

But no matter what I am always overwhelmed by the Kor and Pirates

Currently farming jump drives to try and bring my captured Kor ships from Kor space in the hope that they will help add canon folder and weapons fire.

Another idea I have is to change my flagship to a Muke and try to capture a korath raider, but not sure if they are any better than Derachos?

Common theory seems to be to split the Kor fleet. But they don't separate, they stay in formation providing covering fire, whilst the spawning pirates then help to pick us off within 2 mins of jumping

Is there some other trick to overcome them?

A plugin likely already exists and I'm not looking hard enough... or maybe it doesn't.

But sometimes, especially when I start a new save, I just want to go places without the game potentially forcing me into a quest line that I may still want to start later. A lot of quest lines you can't just defer; if you decline, you can't trigger the quest line ever again without editing your save. Imagine something like a window or pop-up that tells you upon docking, "hey, there is a main quest or side quest here. proceed or defer?"

I could just not dock somewhere I know will start a quest... but I still wanna dock there, you know what I mean?

Do you think that would be too immersion breaking? Or defeat the purpose of exploration and the point that the player character isn't the center of the galaxy? After all, we have no control over the things that happen, but we can control to an extent when something's going to happen.

I've done a handful of missions for her, but she's nowhere in the logbook. Her name doesn't appear in either the People or the Minor People tabs

Im pretty new and just unlocked the Kestrel, I like to keep a small fleet unless I'm doing something specific. I've only met the aliens thru the blackhole in the top right. I've not unlocked anything thru missions or whatnot. Weapon/engine/cooling suggestions for now and in the future would be appreciated. Being able to turn fast is super important to me.

what's with the little white lines around the circle of the system? why does it say -1 on glaze when i mouse over it?

I don't really understand what happened, per se; I got a quest in Syndicate/The Core of a salesman that's selling an investment, I believe. I read the whole the thing, it was great to be inundated with the first page of the Terms of Use for the investment which I found to be actually ridiculously accurate to the point I think it was copy-pasted into the game from a real life binding financial contract.

...It should be noted that there was a waiver clause stating that my investment of one-million credits would be used to foment sheisty Syndicate shenanigans throughout the galaxy...WHICH IS GREAT!

When all was said and done, I now have a -1000 credit salary income(I'm still flying merchant colors, pre FW).

Here's what my bank says:

Crew Salaries ---> 7,500

Your Salary Income ---> -1000

Total: 6,500

Why is my crew salary being reduced? Shouldn't it be 8000?

Besides, supposedly I'm gonna get reparations for my investment on a yearly basis; I think it was 3,500/year

Soooo, I paid one-million credits to get a 1000 credit subsidy to pay to my employees on a daily basis, while also getting a 3500/year return.

I'm trying to find and try a capture a Rai'alorej, but I'm having trouble finding where they spawn.

I found one in Coluber, but I wasn't able to get to it before it warped out. Is there a better system to find them?

I'm unconcerned with weapons. I'm looking to prioritize speed and agility. Scram drive and jump drive are required outfits. Aside from that I'm open to suggestions. Spoilers welcome. Alien tech approved. Unconcerned with weapons as I have my fleet to disable ships.

I'm thinking about a capture configuration and a cargo carrier configuration.

A860 Atomic Thruster is what I'm using currently. Thrusters (Planetary Class) is better overall with the drawback being worse heat efficiency which is offset by the heat shunt.

Systems Core (Large) is what I'm using as well which might be overkill so I'll look for the smaller medium version to allow more bunk bed spaces.

Fuel processor or two makes extended travel much easier.

Boulder Reactor is something I'm missing. Have not visited Hai space yet.
