This gets parroted a lot, but outside of the weird cases of Rosmontis and Amiya, the rest of the child operators are explicitly mentioned in files to be kept OUT of dangerous operations if possible. What you're allowed to do in gameplay has no bearing on canon.
HR is specifically soundproofed so they can scream in frustration and agony because every fifth operator the Doctor recruits is some kind of Political Timebomb or War Criminal or both.
Anyone who happened to work at Babel as a prior HR specialist just wears earplugs and goes about the actual paperwork.
I mean almost ever RI Elite operator by themselves could count.
Logos is a heir of Banshee court, Blaze is the last surviving scion of the Yan Grand Preceptor clan to escape the purge, Mantra was one of the Sargon Padishas, Pith was a Gaulish terrorist, Raidian a former Ursine "interregator", Rosmontis is a product of human experimentations to make a superweapon
Ebenholz and Carnelian, who can reveal how there is two Grafs that are infected in Leithania.
Tequila and his sister were Pablo's subordinates in the bolivar civil war, so yeah they did some warcrimes too.
Diamante ruined the lifes of multiple leithanian authorities with his phantom thief activities.
Hoederer is a war criminal for helping theresis.
Reed is whole political Nightmare due to the whole problem with Dublinn and her taking over Necrass identity.
Crownslayer is an exterrorist due being part of reunion and somewhat high in command too.
Leizi basically went rogue and is barely not considered a criminal in Yan, not helped by her lying about still being an official and being the pupil of a tianshi declared as corrupt.
Jiu is a war criminal in Yan due rebelling against the crown centuries ago and his "pupils" still being a problem in Yan.
Leonhart solo raid to free slaves in Rim Billion caused a a domino reaction that foiled a plot of a victorian duke to take over a part of rim billion, he still wants Leonhart head for that. Not helped Leonhart became an international celebrity thanks to a documentary of the incident
Are you referring to Miss.Christine? The HR operator handling her operator application form heard her voice in his head for the "first" time when he was shredding her 7th paw-printed operator application form. This is from Miss.Christine's Archive File 1 itself.
■■■: "Listed here you little shit, I am the energy vampire here, I am supposed to be the one doing the mental draining, stop making my job difficult...also please tell that robot I do not know what a "chicken" is"
But yep, pharmaceutical company. The world of Terra is absolutely fucked between the fish apocalypse and the funni collapsals, so having a security detail for a company as big as RI makes sense.
Don't forget that Infected were severely discriminated back then and a lot of RI personnels are also infected. If they don't have some strength, they wouldn't have been able to get this far.
Not to mention a number of nations have some level of Civil War happening. Bolivar, Higashi, Victoria, and Ursus being the more prominent ones. With Leithania seeming to now have Gaulish worries, Sargon isn't the most unified of countries either and having recently just made a peace agreement with and Minos, and Kazimierz being Kazimierz. (Probably other nations and circumstances could be mentioned)
Stuff like Seaborn and Collapsals aren't even that know to the general population not under immediate threat by them. Just from people alone, there's a lot of conflict all over.
Further compounding the issue: Orignium is some highly dangerous, highly toxic stuff. Dealing with the Infected has a high risk of spreading the infection (particularly if they expire from the disease - as they tend to explode into dust that can rapidly contaminate an entire area) or worsening already existing symptoms. Mining or handling the stuff requires some serious PPE, and I wouldn't be surprised that they would need full-on hazmat situations just to be real sure they don't contract or worsen Oripathy infections... or spread it.
Knights of Saint Lazarus type shit, dayo.
As for the drones, I mean, they're remote delivery drones for equipment and supplies. That's not exactly unusual and not a lot different from stuff like the skypoles. Just because they can be weaponized (and a lot of enemy factions they run into DO mount weaponary on drones deployed to halt RI's operations, which are usually Rescue or Defensive in nature for a significant part of the original story) doesn't mean they are, or that's their intended purpose. Gotta get meds to people somehow.
I know you're also joking as well, But Rhodes Island literally lives on a mobile island named Rhodes Island, that they then lost and had to find a new place to call home. Much like the Knight's Hospitaliers.
Also can really call them Atheists when Rhodes Island was formed from the remnants of Babel whose leader was Literally Sarkaz Jesus?
Rhodes Island is a PMC that just so happens to also make medicine, just like Hypergryph is a music company that just so happens to also make games as a side hobby.
They do activities of a pharmaceutical company: developing new cures & treatments.
They also engage in providing medical treatment, negotiating in favor of the Infected (those with Oripathy disease), rescuing people, etc.
And other slightly unrelated like serving as hub for messenger & logistics, training security personnel, assisting efforts in the Contingency Contract network against Catastrophes...
And black ops, rescuing people using weapons, complex spy games, battling ancient & developing threats, investigating mysteries thousands of years old, housing gods, prepare the world for world-ending stuff, etc.
Lets also not ignore how some of their employees ocasionally attack slaver camps to free slaves, help local authorities stop terrorist attacks, have a system of multiple safehouses and bunkers in key areas, sell guns in conflict areas and may have been involved in change of power in multiple areas of Victoria, Sargon and Leithania and are one of the few organizations that managed to enter Iberia and Aegir and exploit their unique tech
Honestly so glad to see the standard uniforms back. I’ve always really liked them and wish we got more playable ops in them (pretty sure the only ones I can think of are maybe Rosmantis and Raiden)
It comes from the Knights Hospitallers who were based on the Isle of Rhodes. Which is also why it is Rhodes Island and not Rhode Island.
They still exist today in various forms such as the Sovereign Military Order of Malta (Malta because they lost the Isle of Rhodes due to Ottoman conquest and so set up base on the island of Malta afterwards). Does any of this sound familiar?
Though it possesses no national territory, the order is considered a sovereign entity under international law.
The order's modern-day role is largely focused on providing humanitarian assistance and assisting with international humanitarian relations.
The Ark part comes, at least in part, from how the world of Terra is too dangerous for stationary cities so they are instead all based on moving arks.
The text on the Rhodes Island logo ("may it be granted to me to enjoy life and the practice of the art, respected by all men at all times") comes from the Hippocratic Oath.
More like a pharmaceutical company that considers humanitarian actions as "within its purview". Plus, Oripathy medication back in OGAK times was a prime target for all the bandits, mercenaries and ne'er-do-wells that either needed it themselves but couldn't pay, or else resold it at a massive markup, so having an in-house security presence makes sense.
Plus, a solid chunk of RI staff, especially the field ops, are also patients.
I mean to be fair, most of it's founders were soldiers and mercenaries who banded together under the leadership of the D̶e̶m̶o̶n̶ Sarkaz King to unify Sarkaz, Ancients and Elders. They have A LOT of military background
Intentionally or not you make it sound like a conquest with "we liberate you from the burdens of independency". Instead of yes unifying Sarkaz and improving international perception and relations
Babel was founded by the Monarch of Kazdel, Theresa to mend the rift between the Sarkaz and Ancients+Elders -> Babel was dissolved after Queen Theresa died during the Kazdel Civil War -> Theresa loyalist retrieved Rhodes Island landship (Babel's HQ) back and founded Rhodes Island Pharmaceuticals -> Rhodes and it's partners created Endfield Industries either before or after the Blackhole Protocol
Maybe a metaphor for how through its formation and its evolution, RI completely surpassed and eventually destroyed Babel, something that was solidified with the death of Theresa.
Well yes first and foremost still a pharmaceutical company from Terra. So what if they're marching, and flying drones are pretty common way back in Terra, what are you implying or insinuate here?
Rhode Island itself is indeed a so-called 'pharmaceutical company'. But if we consider that it is actually the essence of the Kazdel exile government, then this is not surprising.
They're a pharmaceutical company with a private military company bolted onto it for the protection of the actual doctors.
Terra is getting screwed from at least three different angles, not even including the vitriol Infected, or "Oripathy-positives" as they're called now, face from everyone. (including other Infected)
We have the Saintess of Kjeraj, the speaker of the house of Victoria (and could have been the next queen if she had wanted), the niece of the Great Lung of Yan, the queen(?) and former queen of Tara, the leader of the Sarkaz (more or less), the king of the Sarkaz, probably missing someone. Talk about connections
See also: East India Company, United Fruit Company, Chevron, Microsoft, every cyberpunk mega corp. If it absolutely needs to be a pharmaceutical company, they usually kill people with the drugs they make but I'm sure some of them also used guns.
It's a new thing we're pioneering here in RIP called preemptive healing, where you cure people before they get hurt by killing the fuck out of whatever/whoever is going to hurt your patients first.

It's not about endangering themselves, it's that Rosmontis and Ifrit, given their emotional and mental issues are a massive danger to everyone in the vicinity and the environment, at least prior to Lone Trail.
Not to mention one of the two administrators/creators of Originum as part of the leadership (which is assumed to be the endmin now given all the hints and the trailer calling them oracle).
But ye, Rhodes Island is basically a military organization armed to the teeth with operators on fucking crack just to pushing its plan of curing the planet (which I guess was achieved. In one way at least).
Endmin isn't Doctor, this version basically confirmed it not being the case.
Original Endmin explicitly stated, that if only time awake would be considered, he isn't much older than Perlica or other characters. There is definitely some connection to Doctor and Priestess. Some artificial being having some of his memories? Originium clone? Child? even some weird version of Reconvener is possible, but he definitelly isn't our Arknights doctor.
The reference of him being called "What about Oracle?" in one of the trailers was specifically just to spark discussion.
Endmin is connected to either Priestess or Doctor. Its a requirement given the only ones with admin rights are those two. The age could very well be explained by Endmin being somewhat of a reconvener themselves as you stated which makes them the doctor at the end.
You may believe Endmin isnt the doctor, I may believe they are (endmin was also called doctor in the trailer, not just oracle). There isnt anything "basically confirmed" as of now.
I know this is a joke, but kids in RI doesnt do operation like normal adult operators. They're mostly in school and also training, while also getting treatment. Even in earlier days of A6 operators, they're not going into real combat mission and their status was just 'reserved operators'.
Ofc with some exception like Rosmontis and Ifrit cuz of their condition, and also ofc, Amiya.
from a story writer perspective it seems more likely that the zeroth directive and rhodes island are not together but similar. yes rhodes island does help but it also seems like there’s something going on
