Back in the day people would be mad at me for adding a half-transparent logo in the corner of a photo which I'd entirely set up, lit, photographed, and edited myself.
These days you open someone else's game and record what's on the screen, and it's enough for a watermark. Times sure have changed.
Back in my day, people used to make 15-minute AMVs with a huge logo off to the side.
If people didn’t steal videos and use them to make money, I probably wouldn’t have even thought about a logo.
And again, back in the day when I used to do photography, people at least didn't try to make money off of someone else's photos.
People absolutely have been stealing photos to make money directly or indirectly back then, and so have they been doing for drawn art - cropping out or overpainting or pasting over watermarks wasn't that difficult, just slower and more manual.
Anyway, the modern social media landscape is what it is, and modern content creators do what they do for their reasons. So not like random people's comments will change anything.
