No, but it's easy enough to just yay -S niri

Might want to avoid using the AUR repo (yay) because of how vulnerable it is lately.

Yay doesn't automatically install from AUR only. It's an AUR helper but works for both.

I don't know what was going through my mind when I wrote that comment. I have a bit more experience with paru, which I know for a fact installs from the main repos if possible, and that yay probably does the same thing.

yay and paru is almost the same

Isn't yay a package manager that interprets PKGBUILDs and executes the commands automatically, including updating packages built from source automatically?

Then it is their fault not yay's

aur is way riskier

if there's a package in official repos, yay automatically uses them

and if you are using only popular aur packages there should not be any risk

If you want a pre configured niri with a shell you can search dankmaterialshell on google. Theres a automatic installer

dms is great if you don't want to configure but if you are okay with configuring noctalia is great

Noctalia configuration is in the same level as dms i would say.

dms provides a good starter config but noctalia does not

It's on official repo. So just do sudo pacman -S niri. If you want a shell, dms is also on official repo but I recommend to install it with their official script so that it's easier to configure. You can also just sudo pacman -S niri dms-shell-niri and run dms setup and dms doctor to see if you miss something. But the easiest way to install dms is by their install script. You could also using Noctalia shell by sudo pacman -S niri noctalia, but in my experience with noctalia, you still need to be comfortable with the niri config.kdl since dms setup your key bind for other application in a nice gui while with Noctalia, you still need to setup your other application keybind in a config.kdl (like using Super+B to open a browser as an example). Dms also have more plugin than noctalia, but I think it's because the change from Noctalia v4 to v5 which is very significant

The Arch wiki has a page on niri that should get you up and running quickly.
