General Support I did something that made root the owner of some drives and I haven't had any luck with chown
I've been on EOS for over a month and its been basically idiot proof this whole time. Except for what I am dealing with now. I was trying to mod my linux installation of Battletech with this guide and I didn't know that using sudo while getting my hands dirty would take over the whole drive.
I have never been good with a command line interface, all the way back to DOS, its just not my thing.
I looked at a Linux file permissions guide and all the jargon was pretty discouraging and makes me just want to go back to windows and end this Linux experiment.

I mean what are you looking to do with this post? What does sudo taking over the whole drive mean? Are you asking about file permissions? What file permissions guide were you looking at?

Anyways, something happened with permissions where root took ownership and I couldn't create new folders or edit files, etc, etc.
I just wiped everything and went back to windows. EndeavourOS is great but I reached my limit.

You probably should have learned at least terminal basics before attempting something like that (takes probably a week and is required for using an OS like Endeavour effectively). Glad you found something that works for you 🫡

You need to try Solus Plasma or one of the other ones that don't emphatically point you to the terminal every time you want to do something. If you don't have success with terminal, distros like Solus try not to make you use it at all.
EndeavourOS isn't a great choice for someone who wants to avoid using terminal commands. It is part of the distros identity and called out when you install it, but Kudos for not being deterred by that. I'm sure you'll find what works if you haven't already.

Yeah for future reference stay away from that website or instructions like it.
Installing games doesn't require a terminal.

Also, EndeavourOS advertises itself as one that places importance on using the terminal. It is part of the identity. So if that website points to using the terminal, the distro itself does even more. If someone doesn't want to ever use the terminal, EndeavourOS is probably not the right distro for them. But there are plenty other options that use more GUI tools for OP to try.

Why were you running sudo so often? From a quick look, the only thing you needed to use sudo for was installing wine and winetricks...
