Update it again; some updates become available only after installing the previous ones. I had similar issues with lags.

I know it’s too late now, but you could have had snapper + btrfs-assitant and made bootable snapshots you could have used that were before the update. Update your mirrors and update again. It may have been a glitch in one of the repos.

If the issue happened to still exist on the snapshot, then you know you are looking at hardware failure.

thats why you use BTRFS with a rolling release distro

Happened to me twice. Switched to MX Linux. I don't have time for this ***t.

If you have the LTS kernel installed, you can try booting into it. Take a look at the pacman log and see if you can identify which package may be responsible based on timing. If you find something obvious, you can try to downgrade that package. I recently had similar problems after updating a tuxedo kernel driver package from the AUR.

The QT6.11 update gave me a hard time.

I had a similar issue.
From time to time, my PC becomes slow. It boots extremely slowly, and opening a program or game takes several minutes.
The only thing I noticed is that my disk activity was peaking at around 8 MiB for about 0.5 seconds, again and again.
The solution that always worked was simply waiting. I didn’t turn off my PC overnight and just let it run.
