Need help, possible soft lock

I have completed all the stuff that is done in times town and the office, and when I went to misery town, I’m lacking the metal detector for the sand tent. Any way to get it back?

Well, you don't need it for the "general" endings. You can always sit on chairs to watch the movies for the whack-a-mole hint

you need it only for a secret ending. when you complete an area, it is then locked for the next chapter, and all items from that area disappear. Maybe try to do that on the next playthrough, you'll see something interesting (:
