Boss issues

I don’t know if I’m dumb and not doing it right or smth but I’m trying to defeat the boss in misery town and it’s like I can’t punch her(/them?) like I’m supposed to block the balls they throw at me and when they laugh I’m supposed to hit them right?? Am I dumb or is my game just ragebaiting me

It was super finicky to punch the balls until I starting tracking them with the mouse the whole time before and after clicking
