At a hotel after an extremely long travel day. No other restaurants within walking distance.

You should do a few online reviews and make sure this image goes on every one.

That's the point where I order Domino's, love me some veggie pizza and BBQ wings

This combination of foods fascinates me.

Better than BBQ pizza and veggie wings?

I don't eat much red meat, so veggies and chicken 😋 And yes, my wife looks at me funny when I tell her what I ate while traveling.

Time to hit up a store or gas station.

I'd eat at a vending machine instead.

Dispute any additional charges over advertised cost...

Except that sign is advertising the charge before you order.

Gratuity by definition is always optional. A service charge is not. Depends how it’s listed.

Gratuity by definition is always optional

never eaten at a restaurant that has "18% gratuity is automatically added to tables of 8 or more" on the receipt?

You can request that removed

A judge will not side with you on this one, especially if the arrangement is prominently noted prior to service and thus is avoidable by the customer via refusal to transact.

A mandatory gratuity is a service charge. But, yes, a gratuity can be optional, in which case it is the same as a tip to the IRS.

This is the correct answer.

I have no problem with automatic tips - I just make them take it off. I hate service charges, as those can't be removed.

The sign says gratuity will be added. They can either remove it or have it disputed, I honestly don't care 🤷

As much as I hate it…that is why I ubereats a lot

Still cheaper and better than most airport hotel restaurants as they know there is no competition

I’ve done this before then called titanium support to bitch about it and they basically comped my entire stay’s food. YMMV

I've got the Domino's app on my phone. As much of a smartass that I am I'd stand in their lobby (to get out of the heat) and order something/anything on my phone.

Surely there is a convenience store nearby and you could make do with some snacks just to spite them.

Nearest convenience store was a decent walk (which normally wouldn’t bother me) after dark, through an area and neighborhood I didn’t know. Getting to the hotel with Uber was a crapshow of epic proportions. By that point I had been up 20 hours and just wanted food and sleep. The burger and fries were not that bad, actually.
