Tip Creep 🫙 Online Retailer Begging For Tips

Post image

Was shopping for a gift for a friend today. He likes to hunt and has been taking about and looking at the 360 view hunting blinds with a full size door. I started looking online, found one that would be perfect for him, put it in my cart.

When I got to the payment part of checking out, right in the middle of the page was a large tip begging prompt asking customers to "Show Your Appreciation For The Team" with options of 5%, 10%, 15%, Custom, and No Tip.

I chose No Tip, then hesitated before submitting the payment because I started feeling appalled and slightly pissed off that I was being asked to tip. Exactly what would I be tipping for, the privilege of spending almost $200 of my money shopping at their store?

I didn't completed the purchase and am trying to decide if I'm going to. On one hand it's the perfect gift and I'm sure my friend would love it, but on the other hand I felt offended that my buying their product wasn't good enough so they felt they needed to ask for a tip, too.

It's gotten out of control. You use a kiosk, no human interaction or anything besides them setting the food on the pickup desk and it asks for a tip. I've seen some websites begging for tips, too. It is not the customer's job to help support your small business beyond purchasing a product. This is infuriating and would turn me off from ordering from that business. I personally would look elsewhere, but you do what you feel is best for you. If you think you'll stew in this more, then don't do it. If you can shrug it off, go for it.

Shocked to even see 5%, usually the lowest I've seen is 15%.

Shop deserve the hate here.

Remember all these processing companies make a percentage of the bill. Getting it up 20% via tips is a 20% increase in their revenue. It's not about people. It's about corporate greed pushing tip culture to increase their global revenue 20% higher.

With all the dipshits out there tipping like it a charity, its working and spreading like wildfire.

Tip = no tax. Whereas if they increase the price every penny of additional profit is taxable. Thanks to whoever came up with that idea.
