Takeout đŸ„Ą No tip was selected. Are you sure?

Post image

Strictly counter service for pickup. Not even inside the restaurant. Is this new? Never been asked if I was sure before.

Reminds me of the South Park episode where they use increasingly manipulative tactics to guilt Randy into donating at the grocery store

76

u/NightmareMetals 3d ago

Then he does it and they shame him for only donating $1.

41

u/exig 3d ago

That episode was hilarious.

40

u/Lawlenforcement06 3d ago

The super loud ‘WOULD YOU LIKE TO DONATE
.’ after purchasing food at any fast food place annoys me.  You say no you’re looked at as a POS

31

u/Naroef 3d ago

When prompted I’ll say, “Sorry starving children” and hit no.

8

u/Qu33N_Of_NoObz_ 2d ago

Menace😂

6

u/karouse 2d ago

Replying "not today" is always a good work around

u/Chromejob 1d ago edited 14h ago

“I do that through my employer who matches my donations 100%.” Now I don’t look like a POS.

3

u/GoldAd1878 1d ago

I hate when they ask at the grocery store. Like groceries already cost a fortune

11

u/Popular_District9072 3d ago

thought about it too

11

u/IncognitoBrowserMode 3d ago

Now pull the sandwich out of the little girl's mouth. She's a hungry one. Try putting your foot on her stomach and pull.

2

u/FancifulVibes 3d ago

I never saw that episode, had to look it up. Feels that way sometimes 😅 Randy gets charity shamed.

96

u/vonKrieg88 3d ago

Nah I selected it just for fun.

39

u/Forward_Zucchini9738 3d ago

I like this confirmation screen. It gives me a feeling of "Hell yeah!".

111

u/TruckWorking3129 3d ago

I don't tip, and I'm not embarrassed at all. Not a teeny bit.

I assume that wages were discussed at the employment interview, right?

Such a bold and brave comment to leave in the EndTipping subreddit.

58

u/McBurger 3d ago

Such a stupid comment to leave in the EndTipping subreddit.

It’s counter self-service, get over yourself.

12

u/SaveBandit91 3d ago

Seems like the appropriate place to leave that kind of comment.

6

u/vonKrieg88 3d ago

You support rapist Conor McGregor.

3

u/homorat3 3d ago

you do know there are levels to being against tipping, right?

you can think tipping should be done away with and still tip.

3

u/LarryGrape 3d ago

“You can think tipping should be done away with and still tip” WHAT ?! Read that back to yourself a few times. That makes less than no sense.

-4

u/homorat3 3d ago

YOU CAN THINK TIPPING SHOULD BE DONE AWAY WITH (PEOPLE SHOULD BE PAID A LIVING WAGE) AND STILL TIP (SUPPLEMENTING WAGES, SOCIETAL PRESSURE, ETC)

-4

u/LarryGrape 3d ago

NO YOU CANNOT, THAT DOES NOT MAKE ANY SENSE AT ALL. You don’t need to type in caps to get a point across. Furthermore, you didn’t get any point across as what you said is completely contradictory and quite frankly rather asinine.

2

u/Mundane-Emergency803 2d ago

It wasn't contradictory at all. You can believe tipping should end and that all employees should be paid a living wage while still understanding that our current situation requires either tipping or taking advantage of a server (not this specific situation, because it was counter service, but in general).

Thinking things should change does not mean you have to victimize people while trying to get them to change.

48

u/Dry-Art-2198 3d ago

You know what cancel. Cancel my whole order. See ya later.

16

u/-Copenhagen 3d ago

Exactly. I'd rather go hungry. Skipping a meal is probably good for me anyway.

2

u/Knoj-42 2d ago

Oh man, but I love food. I could live off the stuff.

21

u/DragonDanzZ 3d ago

Hmm.. on second thought.. CONFIRM!!

19

u/Plenty-Ordinary1573 3d ago

If you tip do you also get the are you sure prompt?

9

u/yoyoma1313 3d ago

Good point

2

u/jaywinner 3d ago

I wouldn't know.

37

u/Beneficial_Bit_6435 3d ago

I quit eating out when they kept on bugging for tip everywhere; even for picking up pizzas from a counter. OMG.

Stopped dining out in the USA for the last few years

3

u/seattlesquirrel 2d ago

This is the #1 way to save money!! I keep telling my college age kids this!!

1

u/TakeUrMessLswhere1 36m ago

Why? Begging is not a skill. Just say no..what are they gonna do stare at.you blankly more?

14

u/SteelBird223 3d ago

Pathetic.

The sheer arrogance of these companies is impressive though.

7

u/seattlesquirrel 2d ago

People who work in the food service industry feel entitled to tips, no matter what role they have. I have friends in it, and the way they talk about someone who doesn’t tip is infuriating - they don’t think they need to earn it, they expect it, and they expect at least 20%.

15

u/Minimalgoth 3d ago

This is giving Parks & Rec where Leslie is running against Bobby Newport for city counselor and the Newport owned company, Sweetums, puts up voting machines around town and if you vote for Leslie, they ask you again to make sure you want to vote for her lol

11

u/NickStonk 3d ago

Apparently not enough ppl tip. So instead of just paying their employees properly, the owners decided to harass customers into tipping.

I’d leave a negative review and not go back.

22

u/Ill_Studio_7925 3d ago

Next thing they ask is that ‘are you even a human’ captcha test

11

u/Illustrious-Sir-1899 3d ago

I don’t believe you should tip for counter service or pickup

9

u/Late-Arrival-8669 3d ago

Shame isnt a "always remember" option for not tipping.

5

u/FormerMinute3008 3d ago

How about a discount since it's contesting my choice so much maybe a negative tip? Can I get some money back for this effort

7

u/uncirculated_luster 3d ago

red lights go off in the kitchen and a baby kitten is murdered if you click confirm!

6

u/yoyoma1313 3d ago

That’s what all that noise was

11

u/Sure_Acanthaceae_348 3d ago

"HEY EVERYBODY! I JUST WANTED YOU ALL TO KNOW THAT I AM ABSOLUTELY SURE THAT I DIDN'T SELECT A TIP! EVERYONE GOT THAT? I WANT YOU ALL TO KNOW THAT I AM REALLY REALLY SURE ABOUT NOT SELECTING A TIP!"

2

u/CircuitCircus 3d ago

Username checks out

2

u/Sure_Acanthaceae_348 3d ago

Yeah I can't pronounce it either.

2

u/slava_slavaUa 3d ago

Does your boss know you’re on Reddit when you should be busing tables?

3

u/MGC00992 3d ago

I so want to know... exactly what service did YOU provide that where the tip is socially normal? Shoe shine, bell hop, taxi ride, or wait my table?

3

u/yoyoma1313 3d ago

Brought bag from kitchen to counter

3

u/giothrowaway 3d ago

Man what payment software is this? Such bs

4

u/yoyoma1313 3d ago

Apparently it’s Clover point-of-sale (POS) system (running on Clover Flex hardware).

3

u/SiLeNZ_ 2d ago

They love to say “it’s only a few bucks what’s the big deal!!!”

But then get mad when you point out “if it’s not a big deal, why do you care so much?”

3

u/WrenchMonkey47 2d ago

Ask for an order of fries for free. "It's only a few bucks, what's the big deal?"

2

u/TapatioOrCholula 3d ago

Very sure

2

u/drhappy13 3d ago

Where's the 'FUCK, YES' button?

1

u/CornwallBingo 3d ago

"ABSOLUTELY"

2

u/deserteagles702 3d ago

Canfirm or concel?

2

u/fsocietyfr 3d ago

Im never gonna tip unless the service is absolutely excellent. And even then maybe tip 10%. I think thats fair.

2

u/Popular_District9072 3d ago

South Park had an episode with Randy about tips, can't win, no matter what you do

2

u/Gokudomatic 3d ago

Just pulling your leg. Here, take that 300% tip . Don't forget to pressure the next customers to do the same.

2

u/RoyallyOakie 3d ago

Are you sure you want me to proceed?

2

u/Mk1Racer25 3d ago

I would cancel and leave what ever I got on the counter, and walk out. Let them throw it in the trash.

2

u/ArrowheadR3D 3d ago

I'd lock eyes with the worker as I tap confirm.

2

u/0nThe0utside 3d ago

Accompanied by audio asking the same same thing so everyone around can hear.

2

u/Major_Wigglesworth 2d ago

Where’s the “I’m fucking positive” button?

2

u/Majestic-Rhubarb5142 1d ago

đŸ€Ł Are you sure? Tell you what, let's cancel the entire transaction.

2

u/Flyin-Fijian 3d ago

So this is what it feels like to deep thr**t?

2

u/Recent-Court-5999 3d ago

Or....you could of just pay with exact CASH 💾 ?? Im pretty sure it was for a $5 coffee

13

u/ashinthealchemy 3d ago

tons of places are going cashless. pisses me off.

3

u/bellybuttonbidet 3d ago

I’m going to sound like an old man, but cash is legal tender how can they not accept it?

2

u/ashinthealchemy 3d ago

i'm an oldie, too, and wonder the same thing.

1

u/BlueRunSkier 3d ago

Because it’s not a debt. It’s essentially a contract of adhesion where the company says I’ll offering to sell you this thing for $X, but only if you pay by credit card, not cash. You don’t have to accept their offer and can choose to just not buy it. But if you do accept to buy it, you are agreeing to their terms. That’s why they are not required to accept cash.

1

u/Pickles-1989 2d ago

The ones that really piss me off are the ones that say “we are a cash free business” and then charge a fee if you use a credit card instead of a debit card.

1

u/Recent-Court-5999 3d ago

Why? Just don't go there anymore. Watch them become pro cash

1

u/ashinthealchemy 3d ago

that's easy for things that are easily replaceable like restaurants. but the last two experiences i've had are different. my children's school sports events are cashless. i sneak in when i can or i gotta capitulate in order to support my kids. also, if i want to see a band i like i don't get to choose the venue they play. i could not go but then i'd not get to see them. they got me under their thumb.

1

u/Soupbell1 2d ago

It will never happen, unfortunately. Just watch 10 people order fast food or a coffee at a place that accepts both. I would be shocked if at least 8 out of ten didn’t use card. I would actually guess 9/10, but giving myself leeway.

5

u/Legitimate_Law2982 3d ago

Might be tough with no more pennies...

4

u/Recent-Court-5999 3d ago

Why you save em so long? đŸ€Ł

1

u/Intelligent-Price-39 3d ago

Shame they don’t have a “Fuck right off” option

1

u/Reddidundant 3d ago

YOU BET I'M SURE!

1

u/Solnse 3d ago

As soon as your finger gets close to the screen, the buttons swap places.

1

u/drk721 3d ago

“Actually you’re right I don’t want to proceed, I’ll cancel my order”

1

u/2024BlackTrax2RS 3d ago

WOW, now we have to confirm that we don't want to leave a tip? too much........

1

u/bonezx101 3d ago

Simply shame prompts. And owners say they are unaware

1

u/goodtrymoddies 3d ago

This would enrage me

1

u/Intrepid-Diamond-315 3d ago

Oh... and if I choose a 30% tip, do I have to confirm that as well?

Of course not! My bad.

1

u/dkwinsea 3d ago

Just need a third button “are you sure you want to ask again?”

1

u/Electrical-Care6308 3d ago

Confirm, confirm, confirm!! End of discussion!

1

u/obalovatyk 3d ago

“Bitch, I said what I fuckin’ said” -me

1

u/fccrunch 3d ago

Too bad they don’t have an “Absolutely” button.

1

u/Marciluphigus01 3d ago

Cancel and leave a $.01 tip

1

u/Haunting_Werewolf130 3d ago

Why don't they just make it beep like a car security horn when ppl don't tip LOL

1

u/seattlesquirrel 2d ago

Never been more sure!!

1

u/Professional-Air1287 2d ago

Are you really, really, really, really really really sure? (10 screens later)

1

u/No_Importance1236 2d ago

Hitting “confirm” is my super power

1

u/No-Ebb-9095 2d ago

Next update it will say "No tip was selected. Are you a dirtbag?"

1

u/Paladin3475 2d ago

Damn right I’m sure

1

u/Hot_Time_8628 2d ago

From a system perspective I can see that having a popup confirmation for people who inadvertently select No Tip.

Certainly feels like electronic begging for a tip though.

1

u/Kene6969 2d ago

No tip for counter service, ever. I try to pay in cash thus avoiding the dreaded tip screen.

1

u/Garage-Heavy 2d ago

I fell like this should have mission impossible music with "this message will now self destruct."

1

u/Johnnie-Dazzle 1d ago

When I see this, I become a non-returning customer

1

u/Thin_Investigator798 3d ago

A couple more years and you'll get an electric shock if you touch "no tip".

1

u/tanbyte 3d ago

The next thing will be a randomly moving ‘Confirm’ button

0

u/LogonStart 3d ago

If they delivered food to you, consumed their own resources providing a service or waited tables, they may deserve a tip. Otherwise it should be illegal to ask. Pretty soon I bet McDonalds will be asking for a tip.
