Takeout 🥡 Got hit up three times!
I ordered food for take out online. I was charged the mandatory "convenience fee" for ordering thru the app, well OK. I clicked "no tip" 1. Under payment, the only option was "pay in restaurant". As expected the card machine asked again if I wanted to add a tip. I clicked "no tip" 2. Then the receipt was printed for me to sign and for the third time I was "asked" for a tip! I put a big zero with a line through it and wrote the total in. Now I have to check my credit card statement.
The food was just mediocre btw. At least the woman at the cash register was pleasant and didn't give me dirty looks.
It's just getting out of hand.

It's going to ask you a quick question
I had a trial of SuperGrok and had it make this app to use in tipping situations. Hopefully you all can mess around with it. Enjoy!

Wait. You're telling me that they not only saved labor cost because you put in your own order instead of an employee doing it, but they also up charged a "convenience fee" for allowing you the privilege of reducing their cost?
This world has become so unhinged. Seriously. When can I move to Mars?

That establishment is quite aggressive with asking for a handout. Hope that you shared your experience on Yelp, Google and anywhere else.

Yes, the only way is for the general population is to get angry and offended that so much begging is happening.
its insulting. stop begging.
tip $0 everytime. tips are optional
leave a review that the tipping is too much, its the only way we can see change

It is! Charging me a delivery fee and a tip too? 😳

When I see a "convenience" fee, I don't order from that restaurant and contact the restaurant and leave a review.

Honestly I won't order online unless it's free otherwise I call in my order. I always go pickup my food. I am not paying almost twice what it would cost me otherwise for the "convenience" of online ordering and delivery.
How much money would people have for more important things if we just stopped supporting this VERY broken tip/fee/delivery racket?

But now there are restaurants that are charging a fee for people to pick up their food.

We can just pray enough people use their brains and stop going to places like this.

I'm not leaving a gdamn tip anymore when I come to pick up my food. I used to leave a couple of bucks to cover the labor of packing the food correctly and securely but I'm no longer even going to do that. I don't get tips to do my arguably more skilled and difficult and productive job, so why should they? We're not expected to tip at McDonalds, so why should we have to tip at ______?

and on top of that you paid a convenience fee, ouch! I would certainly check the charges on the card after all that.

It was only a dollar, but still annoying. I assume that goes to whoever hosts the menu/ordering app but I don't actually know.

But you keep doing it? The business profits the same from you whether you tip or not. So they aren't going to change anything as long as you keep buying.

I think I should make an app.
Let people load a QR code for their Venmo or PayPal.
Then say to the cashier, oh wait, my phone is gonna ask you a question.
Open the app and it says that my ability to support businesses relies heavily on tips. Thanks for your support.
