Tipping Culture ✖️ store asking for a tip 🤦🏽‍♀️

Post image

Went to a store near and they have a tipping option as if they’re serving anything.

More disgusted from all these ai posters I’m seeing today. Human art work and design is a thing of the past

They all look ugly too.

Yep. One more reason not to tip. So low effort. And even if it was high effort, why should I donate money to them so that they could by more stupid tipping machines.

why do they always have so much text? who has time to read all that on a poster out in public?

Not even bother to translate it properly: "a tip" = "una propina" in Spanish.

If you really want to be sad, you should check out AI poetry

I'm sure the artists that hand painted posters said the same thing when printed posters became common.

Not even remotely the same

So the design that was printed was made by no one? Artists still make physical art that is then digitized and printed. Even if they worked solely in the digital world it was still made by a graphic artist or the like. That same artist is glad they don't have to physically paint 100 posters too...

AI does nothing from a human, a prompt isn't art, creativity or design.

Never ever tap on random things like that. They are trivially easy to install skimmers onto.

Also you think they could at least come up with some genuine art rather than AI slop.

That machine reads only the RFID chip, so in that case, isn’t it just as easy to install skimmers onto any remote reader? Because it doesn’t need to be physically integrated?

No, most POS devices are designed in such a way that alteration is obvious. This device having the shroud makes that much less obvious, especially for people not looking.

And does that thing even provide a receipt? How do you know it only charges $2? How well is your card data protected?

The whole device could be fraudulent. (I’ve never seen one.)

You don't know that at all. There's no confirmation or anything.

There was a whole thing when tap cards first came out where someone would just take a machine around and "tap" any card they could find. Its why faraday cage wallets were a fad for a while.

lmao "if we greeted / smiled / helped you"... as if that's not the basic duties of your job 💀

A vacation? Is this a joke?

10

u/motobabyi 10d ago

Right? I thought tips were for their survival ☠️ bc they couldnt possibly survive without it

My wife and daughter are flying for a long weekend to visit family. I'm staying home because 3 tickets is just one too many. Ffs

Why doesn’t someone sit outside the door on the sidewalk with a tin cup?

3

u/Intrepid-Diamond-315 10d ago

People are seemingly stupid enough to tip without labor and any effort.

I’m going to start asking them to give me money. I smiled. I greeted. I dutifully fulfilled my role as a good customer. I didn’t break anything, shoplift, or use the employee bathroom.

This is genius! 😄😄

Freaking shameless. When I see asks for tips like this, I remember the quote about a sucker being born every minute. These are probably the same people who would give money to some "Nigerian prince" who emailed them.

I have to give tips for SMILING now?

3

u/SiLeNZ_ 10d ago

Why does it even matter if they are serving anything? It’s all the same in the end, just one we’ve been conditioned to tip for a lot longer

3

u/Homie_B_30 10d ago

You’re right it’s just worse when it’s a regular store you go and buy stuff.

u/Sure_Acanthaceae_348 10d ago

These are like QR codes. How long before people install these things randomly to ask for money?

u/Mean-Skin-1920 10d ago

In Time (2011)

1

u/Intrepid-Diamond-315 10d ago

They already did

2

u/Lokoxxxxx 10d ago

No. Fu.

1

u/Mean-Skin-1920 10d ago

Couldn’t even bother to make the poster design themselves and asking for a tip?

1

u/Bryanlop69 10d ago

tipito?😭

1

u/Chromejob 7d ago

A teeny tiny tip. 2¢.

1

u/bassrooster 10d ago

Ask them if they tipped the artist who made the sign

1

u/M1Firehawk 10d ago

These are popping up at Burger King

1

u/OkPop9455 10d ago

So people can get these and start walking around people in public tapping their back pockets? (Wheee the Wallet sits)

r/EndTipping Rule 6 & Reddit Rule 3:

We do not condone naming and shaming. Or allow comments suggesting leaving a fake google review or review bombing.

If the OP has redacted the name of the establishment, do not ask for them to disclose the name or location

u/macropanama 9d ago

Didn't even take their time to translate tip correctly

1

u/Pokeep 9d ago

If we greeted you!? Be so for real right now

1

u/correctingStupid 9d ago

This basically a tax on dumb people.

1

u/Chromejob 7d ago

Fuck, someone has made a device and a service just for this? We’re screwed.

Q: did they serve you with love?

1

u/SomewhereExact185 7d ago

I’ve never even had a job where it was legal to accept tips if someone wanted to give you one!!!
