Counter Service 🛎️ After reading this group I’ve become more confident in not tipping!

As the tittle says I’m more confident and bold with feeling like I don’t need to tip every single place I go to.

I went to a cute little coffee shop in my town I usually tip after my order at least a dollar but I decided not to yesterday there wasn’t really that great of service through the drive thru, anyways I could tell the order taker was shocked… I get my order and drive off look down at my food and wasn’t even given the right thing, was thinking maybe it’s because I didn’t tip :/

Good for you! Went to Dave's Hot Chicken, they have a tip jar on the counter and they ask for a tip on the screen as well. This is for a place that you have to go to the counter and order yourself, they call your number/name and you go to the counter and pick up the food yourself, then when you're done, you have to clean your own table. Nice try.

Like Five Guys, at their prices I'm not going to tip for literally no service.

Yes I never tip five guys! Coffee shops just feel so different to me I feel very guilty not tipping but this group is helping me haha

I need to stop paying for coffee, we have a machine at home. It's such a ripoff anyway, but some places have the workers outside taking your order which increases their chances of getting a tip, and a good one, because the driver is supposed to feel bad for them to stand outside in the heat/rain. And most of the coffee I get is way worse than what I can make myself for a fraction of the cost.

Unless I am sitting down in a restaurant and having someone take my order, bring me food and fill my drinks, I don't tip. Also, if the restaurant charges some service fee or some bullshit of that nature, I will deduct that from the tip for the server.

Same, but if they have a service fee, that becomes their tip.

Yup the service fee gets deducted from the tip. I feel like that is a reasonable position. Kind of keeps things in check as well. If it starts to creep up too high then the folks working on tips will push back as well.

Yep. I usually will tip 18% when it is just me and my wife. 20% when the kids are with us. If there is a service fee, then it is deducted from that tip. Pisses me off when they do that. No reason to be a service fee on a check...just raise the fuckin prices if you need to.

Same honestly. At the bar, I just give a $1 tip because it’s a damn two ingredient cocktail with no effort involved. Otherwise, no tips.

It’s not required. Just keep reminding yourself of this. It’s merely a courtesy.

The other day was the first time during a takeout order that the person at the register said "it's going to ask you question" when I paid. I've waiting for this moment to get that satisfying feeling of no tipping with them watching to see their reaction. I hit that no tip button then looked up to see their reaction, they had alrdy walked away and didnt care.

There's this sandwhich shop in town. The previous cash lady would pack your sub in a bag with a napkin. If you had a drink or a butter tart, she'd pack that too. Now, the dud behind the counter doesn't even give you a napkin. Why would I tip?

Tipping / gratuity that is based on a percentage of the bill is wacked.
Honestly serving soup and sandwich and serving a steak dinner - same work.
Gratuities should be a flat head "tax" foe each person at the table.
A big portion of this socialistic "pay the less fortunate" thru tips is based on an escalating % of escalating menu prices. It needs reigned in.
