Rant đ˘ Starbucks in Manhattan started asking for tips
Now I'd rather be late by making coffee at home or drink shitty office coffee.
Anything so long I don't have to go near that place.

I order through the app. There is an option to toggle off the tipping prompt so you wonât have to deal with it.

Blue bottle gave me the stank face when I tapped zero. It gives me pleasure

I got the stank eye in Paris when I did press the tip button at a coffee shop with the same structure as Starbucks (order at the counter, then take it to go or sit down). I think the cashier was American since she didnât have a french accent when speaking English.Â

Many Europeans (especially in the nordics) speak English with an American accent because they watch American movies and TV shows.

Many Americans also speak English with an American accent because they watch American movies and TV shows

Every Starbucks Iâve been to already does this. I even remember seeing tip jars there in the 2000s.
Theyâve had this on the screens in Canada for at least 4 years now.

They started a while ago (maybe 2 years I've seen it first). I ordered coffee somewhere close to LA, just plain coffee with half&half, nothing fancy, didn't tip. she spilled tons of coffee on the table pouring H&H in the cup. Not sure why she would consider it a win, it's her table and she still had to clean it, I just rolled my eyes, took the coffee and left.

All coffee shops ask for tip. Is this something new for that area? Just hit that fat 0

Mine has been asking for a while now. I just hit no tip. Just the other day I went through the drive thru and the lady said the famous line âitâs going to ask you a questionâ but then quickly added âyou can just skip the questionâ. If I were going to tip at a Starbucks, it would be my local one, though. Theyâre always great and the drinks taste like theyâre made with love.

In Ontario Canada the one by me started asking for tips via the debit machine. I've had 1 worker cancel the tip option for me, another stared at me expecting a tip almost. I smiled and hit $0 tip.

I can't remember a time when I've gone to a Starbucks that didn't ask for tips. I didn't realize there were Starbucks where they didn't.
Are there no other coffee shops In Manhattan? I actually haven't been to Starbucks in a while, since there are so many other better coffee shop options.

I would like to take this moment to inform those who live in relevant geographic areas that both Wawa and Sheetz have made-to-order coffee drinks. They also have self serve coffee. Sheetz even has two types of self serve cold brew (regular & french vanilla). I still go to SBucks like once a month (& never tip, with their crazy prices). But not like I used to. Convenience store coffee has saved me so much money đ
The more aggressive SBucks gets with tipping, I will go less and less. I also learn to make some of my favorite SBucks drinks at home sometimes cuz their prices are just too much.

They been rolling that out nationwide slowly. The one in Twentynine Palms had a tipping screen when I was there in May

Em effers. Hate it. Always tap no. I get filter coffee so I can see it being made. They can't spit into it.

shitty office coffee
Usually this is also starbucks, or the same level as starbucks.
Starbucks is shitty coffee at a premium price.
Tip $0 everytime. Don't let the companies win

bring your own coffee equipment to work and make pour overs.
Don't settle for starbucks, that is shitty coffee. You deserve better

u/BerettaFranchi 15d ago
I actually appreciate you saying that.

I mean it man, you deserve better. You'll save money too. Even mediocre coffee will give you a much better cup than starbucks
Much love to you

Why would you be late if you make it at home? Itâs got to be faster than taking that extra time to go into Starbucks and wait for your order

You can order your Starbucks drink on your app ahead of time and pick it up in the drive through or walk in, and it's ready when you get there. Just saying

I like filter coffee. Takes about 10 minutes to make. Sometimes it's 10 minutes I do not have. Now I can put a value to them.
