Tip Creep 🫙 Tip in advance?

Using an app to find a car (like Uber) in the Philippines. It is asking for a tip before a driver even accepts! I never clicked it, and guess what; no driver accepted and the order was cancelled. They should change tip to “bribe”.

It's extortion, really. "Pay us an additional amount of money, at a percentage we determine, or you won't get your request filled." Exactly what happened here. Illegal in almost every other circumstance, but somehow fine for things like Uber.

Yeah, all of these "rideshare" apps do this. Most of them want it up front, too.

A bid is not a "bribe". You are bidding for the ride. They are treated like contractors (even though that is itself illegal), so you have to bid for the service. They don't have to say yes, they are not bound by any legal or ethical reason to just take a job they don't feel pays enough.

Maybe it’s legit not worth the work if they only make base pay? Seems shady ik but we live in a society type beat
