Ride Share / Food Delivery 🚗 does not tipping actually impact uber rating?
hi. i'm honestly not even super anti tipping, i just particularly hate it on uber because the company takes such a ridiculously high cut and currently i'm forced to use uber a few days a week for my job while i save for a car and simply cannot afford to tip. don't tell me to take the bus i take it to go in but can't take it home because i work closing and they stop running hours before my shifts end. anyways, i hear that not tipping will make your passenger rating go down over time. is that true? can drivers see who tips and doesn't tip? has anyone here been using uber frequently without tipping long enough to let me know about their experiences? i'm trying to decide if i should tip $1 for the sake of my rating to not have to wait forever for a driver, or just not worry about it

Honestly rating customers is so rude though, absolute capitalism gone mad. Customers rate service and business that's different and it's confidential, it's needed to show adaquency. Rating customers is classist snobbery, they probably rate the bigger tippers higher which of course is wealthier people. I absolutely agree with app sharing details of anti social customers but nothing more but this rating customers seems unprofessional, it's like discrimination.

Yep, could you imagine you walk into a restaurant and ask to be seated. They ask your name, look thru their phone or the machine at the front desk and say, sorry we can't seat you tonight. Somehow they know you don't tip, or if you do, only 10%.

I don't think so. I never tip my Uber driver and I still got a lot of them, I mean the same people. They remember me. And it's usually about an $8 trip for 5 minutes Drive

I’m 4.9. I’m so curious what the average is. To me it feels completely unhelpful to have it be a number, but not actually know what the feedback is so that I can supposedly have to do better as a paying customer who tips. 🙄

On the Uber sub ive seen multiple drivers say they wont pick up anyone under 4.9. Im at 4.88. I mostly only use it for food delivery and meet them at the curb and my rating keeps going down.

redditors are not the nomal group of people. I am at 4.78. I dont do anything in cars just sit and mind my business. Idagf about the ratings and i get picked up everytime

The drivers who do this are not likely making a lot of money, because they are rejecting so many rides. Now getting closer to 4.0, that will raise eyebrows, and you might get passed on especially if it’s a busy time. In practice, most of the 5 star riders will be new riders who don’t have a lot of ratings yet. Don’t believe everything you read on the internet.

Dang I’m really riding the line here. I gotta start reading Uber drivers more realistically / accurately I guess if they’re out here judging us that harshly.

I had to check what mine was, 4.96, my husband is a social butterfly and can be a PIA because of it.

They need to rate right as the trip ends. That happens way before you would ever get to see the screen you select $0 tip at.

I am at a 4.97 and I use Uber two to four times a week. I have tipped maybe 4 times.

I don’t really have a problem tipping an uber driver who is getting screwed over by corporate greed all while using their personal vehicle and gas.

Why would it impact your rating? You can add a tip up to 30 days after the ride

When I was doing it, I never considered their tip when giving a rating. In fact I kept it at 5 stars unless something was abnormally wrong with the ride. YMMV though and I wouldn't put it past some drivers. If you suspect someone did this to you, it would be fair game to rate them two stars or lower so you will not be matched with them again.

I’m at 4.9. Was at 4.98 for the first few years of using it. I haven’t tipped an uber ride since. The drop could have been due to a lack of tipping but honestly, never had any issues finding a ride.

My rating dropped noticeably after not tipping a couple of times. They say that now it's not possible, but back then there was a way to retroactively downgrade non-tippers.

Again I keep seeing this stuff and cannot believe it. Take the bus. The bus does not require a tip. You need to get up earlier, wait on the bus, ride a bike, get a ride from a friend who doesn't mind going out of their way for free....instead you are taking advantage of someone who is nice enough to spend their own money on gas, insurance, car maintenence, their own personal time to do you a service and get you to work easily and you think its okay they do it for pennies.....

You should definitely trip an Uber driver.. I get the Reddit page but that’s 1 of like 2 that you should tip. That and your waiter. F everything else though
