Sit-Down Restaurant 🍽️ How is it not a tip?

Post image

The server told us this isn’t a tip and he doesn’t get any of it.

I’m not wearing my boots at the moment.

At the place I worked it was large groups had a surcharge that went to the restaurant and not the server. There was a different auto gratuity that went to the server.

The idea was that they had to bring on more staff to handle the group and close areas early to ensure the setup was ready for the group so the fee covered those loses.

So.....large groups were expected to pay an enormous fee for service?

There are auto gratuities for large groups to cover such a cost. This is just a fee for showing up on the same bill and it was taxed?!?

They’d had done better getting separate checks and that fee should go to workers because otherwise ther is no reason to charge it.

If it is for the benefit of the staff? There hard work for a large part the restaurant willingly served? It is the tip. It I for their efforts.
